Position description

 

As a member of our dynamic Microsoft Azure Cloud Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for managing ESB’s Microsoft Azure cloud environments. You will balance operational support services with new projects for ESB, ensuring the availability, performance, support, and security of Azure systems. Your role will involve troubleshooting issues and supporting solution implementation. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to maintain smooth operations and adherence to Azure best practices is essential. As part of our Cloud team, you will contribute to ESB's strategic objective of delivering net zero by 2040, working with key business-critical external and internal infrastructure & applications. Keeping abreast of cloud technologies and industry trends is important to provide recommendations for continuous improvement and innovation.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Manage and monitor Azure infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, resilience and system maintenance activities in Cloud environments.
  • Responding to Cloud team tickets and troubleshooting issues including identifying and resolving performance, connectivity, access and security issues.
  • Provide Production Support, Release Management & pipeline approvals ensuring the resilience of ESB Cloud infrastructure in the process.
  • Monitor Azure resource utilisation, capacity, scaling and performance, making recommendations for optimisation.
  • Provision, configure, and maintain Cloud resources and services, such as storage accounts, Data & synapse workspaces, virtual networks, security groups, etc.
  • Provide support by automation using tools such as PowerShell, Azure CLI, IaC or ARM templates & DevOps.

 

  • Implement Azure best practice architecture with IaaS, PaaS and SaaS infrastructures, adhering to solution architecture guidelines, standards, governance & controls.

 

 

Experience and Qualifications 

 

Essential

 

  • A degree in IT, Computing, Computer Science or equivalent qualification.  
  • At least 4 years of experience in Microsoft Azure Cloud services technical IT role.
  • Valid Microsoft Certification AZ900 essential.
  • Solid understanding of networking principles, eg DNS, Vnets, Subnets and load balancing in Azure environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues in Azure environments.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment, prioritising tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.

 

Desirable 

 

  • Valid Microsoft Certification AZ104 desirable
  • Proven experience in Terraform as IaC for configuring and deploying cloud infrastructure.
  • Net, & Helm would be desirable. 
  • Azure DevOps experience, Azure AD, Policies and security experience. 
  • Container experience desirable

 

 

Location

 

This position will be based in ESB Head Office, Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin 2, Ireland.

Salary

 

€48,000 - €56,500 depending on experience.
