The SAP Analytics team supports analytics solutions that drive value for ESB by providing expertise in extracting and reporting data from our SAP landscape to meet business requirements. The SAP Analytics Lead is a key role in the management of the design, development and delivery of a broad range of reporting solutions across ESB’s highly integrated data landscape. The SAP Analytics Lead will manage a team of specialists skilled in SAP Business Objects Data Services (BODS), SAP BW, and SAP BO reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop a high performing team of SAP BODS, SAP BW, and BO specialists.
- Leverage the capability of SAP BODS to develop robust data pipelines from SAP data and other sources to meeting business and analytical requirements.
- Develop the SAP BW and BO environments to proliferate self-service data analytics for business users requiring SAP data.
- Partner with data scientists, data analysts, and business analysts by supporting them in understanding the meaning of SAP data to enable the development of insights delivering business value.
- Champion data management by cataloguing SAP data, BW and BO reports for increased data literacy across the organisation.
- Ensure that data lineage & ownership is documented for all solutions involving SAP BODS, BW, and BO.
- Drive the team to maintain data quality standards in SAP data pipelines and reports to meet business needs.
- Facilitate the maintenance of our SAP Analytics environment by staying current on SAP BW, BODS, and BO versions and service packs.
- Develop training programmes to support business end users on the SAP based reporting and analytics capabilities
- Act as a thought leader and SAP champion for ESB to drive adoption of SAP reporting and analytics for greater utilisation across business functions
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- 7+ years’ experience in Data Engineering and Analytics with 5+ years' experience in SAP BODS and BW reporting.
- SAP BODS expertise in understanding ETL processes, data integration, and job design.
- In depth knowledge of SAP BW and familiarity with data modelling, InfoProviders, and query design.
- SAP BO experience in understanding how reports are developed and used.
- Very knowledgeable on the structure of SAP ERP and meaning of its data.
- Experienced in integrating SAP with non-SAP systems and cloud platforms.
- Coordinating teams by aligning tasks, managing workloads, and ensuring collaboration.
- Mentoring & coaching by supporting team members’ growth and technical development.
- Performance Management by setting KPIs, conducting reviews, and driving accountability.
- Project Planning through Scoping, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Experienced with Agile/Waterfall Methodologies and adapting delivery methods to project needs.
- Excellent skills in stakeholder management and translating technical details into business value.
- Skilled in risk management by identifying and mitigating project and data risks.
- Highly proficient in problem solving and diagnosing issues across data pipelines and reporting layers.
- Adopts data-driven decision making including using insights to guide business and technical strategies.
- Has an innovation mindset, encouraging adoption of new tools, automation, and best practices.
- Excellent presentation skills.
Desirable
- Hands on experience of SAP BW and SAP BW/4HANA.
- Functional knowledge and understanding of data structures in SAP ISU and SAP S/4HANA.
- Practical experience using SAP BO BI 4.x or BI 2025.
- Experience of the data migration process, from strategy and planning, through to execution, go-live and UAT for migration to S/4HANA.
- Detailed understanding of BW data model, design, and development of data models in SAP BW.
- Working knowledge of HANA Studio, Analysis for Office.
- SAP Support Pack and upgrade implementation experience.
- Knowledge of standard testing practices for SAP Projects.
- Experience in data engineering and building data pipelines in Microsoft Azure.
- Experience in the energy utilities industry.
Qualifications
Essential
- Third level qualification in an IT / Computer Science or business discipline is desirable, or equivalent business experience.
Desirable
- SAP BI (BODS/BO/BW) Certification
- SAP HANA Application Certified Associate
- Project Management Certification
Location
This position will be based in ESB Head Office, 27 Lower Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin 2.

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least one anchor day per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.

Salary
€69,000- €81,000 per annum.
