Health, Safety, Quality and Inventory Specialist, Technical Services Aghada
Position Description
The successful candidate will be required to work across several functional areas within the station. Reporting to the Asset Manager on site on a day-to-day basis but supporting several departments.
The successful candidate will be required to work to the level of their competence to carry out, and to assist others in carrying out, their duties. They should be a team player with good problem-solving skills. They will be required to work autonomously, be flexible and be a self-starter with the ability to provide support, on a full or part time basis, to other teams and projects as required. Out-of-hours support will be a feature of the role as required.
Excellent communication skills are required and the ability to support and work effectively with staff at all levels within and outside of the organisation is essential. As required by the business, the successful candidate will give and receive training as defined by management.
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities include the following:
Health & Safety:
- “Hands On” safety professional.
- Maintain the highest level of safety standards across the site.
- Managing site safety systems and all associated processes.
- Develop and implement routine maintenance and outage/overhaul safety plans.
- Retain site ISO45001 accreditation (and all associated systems to achieve).
- Develop and implement safety policies, procedures and initiatives to maintain and improve a safe working environment.
- Conduct Audits, Hazzard Hunts, and Assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Manage contractor induction and recording system
- Be fully competent to act as a Work Controller, issue permits to contractors and self under the safety rules and execute all duties required under the role.
Inventory:
- Stores management & inventory control including procurement
- Arranging transportation domestically and internationally form site
- Tracking of offsite dispatched parts (for refurb or other).
- Provision of technical services to the Engineering Services Team or other team members as required.
- Providing procurement support including requirement to create specifications, tenders and administer contracts.
Quality:
- Develop and implement routine maintenance and outage/overhaul quality plans.
- Retain site ISO55001 Asset Management accreditation (and all associated systems to achieve).
- Develop and implement Quality policies, procedures and initiatives to maintain and improve the quality of works on/off site.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
- Qualifications in Health and Safety with 3-5 years’ experience & competence
- On the ground experience in implementation of safety policies and procedures
- Industrial experience in managing “@ the coal face” safety
- Experienced Auditor, Risk Assessor and Safety Trainer
- Practical implementor of good safety culture
- High competence in clerical and record keeping with high attention to detail
- Innovative in systems improvements to improve efficiency and control
Desirable
- Experience of safety recording and reporting systems
- Knowledge of Safe Systems of Work, permitting and isolating processes
- Knowledge of SAP and Stores management
- Experience in an engineering, construction, or industrial environment.
Qualifications
- The Candidate must have qualifications in Health and Safety, and would ideally have relevant Stores, Admin and Inventory work experience.
Location
Full time attendance at ESB Aghada Power Station, Whitegate, Co. Cork, P25 XE94.
Reporting to
The successful candidate will report to the Asset Manager on site.

Salary
€57,950 - €68,150
