Position Description  

Networks Telecoms are responsible for the design, delivery, and operation of ESB Networks National Telecommunications Infrastructure.  

The Telecoms Service & Deployment Teams – Central & Southeast, is responsible for the safe installation, support and maintenance of telecoms technologies such as data traffic multiplexers, microwave radio links, SCADA UHF polling radio, satellite, tele-protection schemes, IP networks, telephony services and other Telecoms equipment nationally. The successful candidates will play a key role in the safe deployment, operation, maintenance and future growth of ESB’s national telecommunications network. 

 

On-Call or Availability may be a feature of this role. 

 

Key Responsibilities  

  • Support and maintenance of telecoms equipment and infrastructure   

  • Co-ordination of 3rd party contractors and equipment partners. 

  • Support, maintain and fault find DC Power and UPS standby power systems.  

  • Implement and support SCADA and Protection systems.  

  • Project management support for Telecommunications projects in ESB Networks, ESB Group and EirGrid. 

 

Experience and Qualifications  

Essential 

  • Either a 3rd Level qualification (NFQ Level 6/ 7) in an electrical/ telecommunications/IT discipline or minimum of 2 years relevant work experience.  

  • Full driving licence. 

  • Safety focused approach. 

  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills. 

  • Good communication and organisational skills. 

  • Accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail. 

  • Adaptability and flexibility. 

 

Desirable  

  • Health & Safety experience/qualification. 

  • Experience working on electrical systems. 

  • Experience with preparation of safety documentation. 

  • Awareness of telecommunications technologies. 

  • Project experience. 

  • Familiarity with HV environments. 

 

Location  

This position will be based in ESB Networks Athlone & Leopardstown. However, a flexible reporting location could be considered within these regions.

Salary 

40,000 - 47,000 annually
