Position Description

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work in the Electric Ireland Belfast team. We have approximately 70,000 Residential & Business customer base whom we strive to provide excellent customer service.

 

The role of the Regulation and Compliance Analyst will have responsibility for a wide range of analytic activities primarily within the Regulation and Compliance department in Electric Ireland, NI residential. This role will ensure that good Regulatory excellence and Licence compliance is supported by qualitative and quantitative data, to enable the provision of high-quality evidence statements to regulatory authorities.

 

This position requires a person with a proven compliance background, with a passion for data and will have demonstrable experience of working under pressure in an ever-changing environment. The role will provide interpretation on market and policy regulations and changes, and assessment of impacts and opportunities created.

                                                                                                                

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, analyse and develop responses for appropriate industry forums and develop responses for Regulation modifications and recommend appropriate business compliance actions and update of regulatory requirements including training requirements.
  • Communicate the impact of regulatory and energy policy decisions and precedence to the Electric Ireland business.
  • Data analysis and report development to demonstrate compliance.
  • Manage upkeep of Customer data from a compliance and governance perspective e.g. GDPR.
  • Support the business to ensure Electric Ireland is compliant with licence conditions and regulatory codes of practice including delivery of department reports and data analysis as required.
  • Develop management reports including creating and managing relevant dashboards as required & analysis and reporting of potential breaches of licence conditions.
  • Analytical processing of data to prioritise improvement opportunities.
  • Support as directed business compliance activities and Governance, including assistance in the management of appropriate measures to minimise risk.
  • Managing delivery of complex analytics projects which may involve 3rd parties and new tools and methodologies.
  • Supporting Coordinate collaboration and knowledge sharing across the Customer Solutions business in relation to regulation and policy positions.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

 

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • 3 years’ experience in a similar role. 
  • Ability to interpret and understand industry policy.
  • Quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to collate and present results in a concise and professional manner.
  • Ability to comprehend complex business issues involving processes, people and systems.
  • Proven High level of numeracy with strong analytical skills including strong Microsoft Office Skills in particular MS Excel.
  • Ability to gather, interpret, analyse and document information clearly and concisely.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and engage with stakeholders.
  • The ability to analyse processes, identify areas for improvement and implement them.

 

Desirable

  • 3rd level qualification (economics/ legal/ financial based preferably) or equivalent work experience is required.
  • A minimum 2 years’ experience interacting with Regulatory Authorities. 
  • An appreciation of the regulatory environment and markets that Electric Ireland NI operates in as well as good understanding of government and European energy policy.
  • Advanced IT skills including MS Office familiarity (SharePoint and Visio experience advantageous).
  • Knowledge of the NI electricity retail market.

 

Location

The Successful candidate will be based in the Electric Ireland Residential NI office in Belfast in line with ESB’s smart working arrangements.

It may also be a requirement to travel routinely to different offices in Ireland and the UK

Salary

£24,000 to £30,000 per annum depending on experience.
