Position Description


The Community Relations, Fisheries and Property areas reside within the Renewables Operations and Asset Management business areas of Generation & Trading. When ESB’s hydro generation operations were established in Ireland, ESB took on the responsibility of managing, conducting, and preserving the fisheries across the rivers where we operate. Our hydro generation stations continue to play a key role in reducing our carbon footprint under ESB’s Brighter Future strategy and requires the support of the ESB Fisheries Conservation team. The team works across a wide range of activities each year, with particular focus on operating our three salmon conservation hatcheries, the river habitat restoration programme, and the eel trap and transport programme, as well as our fisheries management activities. The Community Relations team seeks to Coordinate a proactive approach to the management of community relations across thermal, wind, hydro, fisheries and other BU HO functions. The Property area manages all property related issues for the Asset Management area within Generation & Trading.


This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work as a team member within a multidisciplinary team that has responsibilities across Fisheries, Community Relations and Property. Support for other areas within the Business Unit will also be a feature of this role. Key priorities for the area are to support the day-to-day business and assist it to operate as efficiently and effectively as possible. The role requires a candidate who is flexible to work across the area and others as required by management. The successful candidate will be required to work to the level of their competence to carry out, and to assist others in carrying out, their duties. They should be a team player with good problem-solving skills. They will be required to work autonomously, be flexible and be a self-starter with the ability to provide support, on a full or part time basis, to other teams and projects as required. Excellent communication skills are required for the role. The ability to support and work effectively with staff at all levels within and outside of the organisation is essential. As required by the business, the successful candidate will give and receive training as defined by management.



Key Responsibilities


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Managing and supporting the prompt payment of invoices.
  • Acting as SRM shopper for all operational activities and setting up carts and purchase orders whilst ensuring appropriate approvals and budgets are in place
  • Managing SRM workflow and follow up on all supplier queries including invoice processing queries with the Invoice Processing Team in Waterford and payment queries with the Finance Operations Payments team
  • Submitting new Vendor requests through the SAP Portal and engaging with the Finance Operations Master Data team regarding SAP Vendors
  • Preparing monthly and year-end management accounts
  • Supporting ESB Finance Managers with monthly and year-end financial forecasting
  • Timesheet recording and reporting
  • General office administrative and filing duties
  • Managing invoicing and other duties as required within the Property area
  • Supporting Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability initiatives within the areas of work
  • Support and carry out any risk assessment processes as required
  • Act as Health & Wellbeing Champion for the areas Any other duties as are requested by management.



Knowledge, Skills and Experience




  • 2-3 years’ experience in similar role
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and reporting skills
  • A high level of commitment and flexibility
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong level of proficiency on MS Office Applications in particular Excel, Outlook and Word
  • Good numerical & analytical skills
  • Adopt a Quality approach in all dealings to the management of data and records
  • Knowledge of Corporate IT systems
  • Proven teamwork skills
  • Good judgement and decision-making skills.




  • Familiar with SAP SRM and FMIS systems.





A qualification in finance, or similar work experience, would be advantageous.





This role is based Belmont, Co Offaly.

While initial appointment will be to this position, rotation within Generation & Trading may be a feature of the role.
