Position Description 

A vacancy exists for the position of EC&I Technician, Carrington Power Station. 

Carrington Power Station comprises a 2x440 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine's (CCGT's) and is located near Manchester. 

The EC&I Technician will carry out maintenance associated with the Power Plant and its auxiliaries to the highest safety standards and practices. 

They will be a team player and self-starter with the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and manage, develop and motivate team members. Have a demonstrable ability to communicate and relate effectively with staff at all levels in the organisation

Key Responsibilities 


 The key responsibilities of this role include the following: 
•    Fault finding and Maintaining assets in accordance with the technicians specialist technical discipline. 
•    Raising and closing work orders, and maintaining accurate maintenance records using the on-site CMMS. 
•    Supervising and directing contractors. 
•    Writing and implementing procedures and working instructions. 
•    Comply with corporate and statutory safety and environmental obligations. 
•    Carry out authorized roles under the safety rules. 
•    Liaise and work with other departments as required or directed. 
•    Carry out Project work and activities as directed. 
•    Be part of an out of hours on call system 


Knowledge, Skills and Experience 

•    A minimum of 3 years' experience Electrical / Control & Instrumentation Maintenance. 
•    Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of HV/MV/LV electrical systems, C&I hardware and plant automation systems 
•    Ability to organise and prioritise work 
•    Good IT skills. 

•    An understanding of Power Generation, mechanical, heavy rotational and pressure systems is desirable. 
•    Experience in liaising with relevant statutory bodies and contractors. 
•    Experience in project management and/or good planning skills 


•    A relevant apprenticeship or equivalent 




The successful person will be based in Carrington, near Manchester

Reporting to 


The successful candidate will report to the EC&I Team Leader, Carrington Power Station.
