Environmental Co-Ordinator (Temporary 12 Months)
Position Description
Moneypoint is Irelands biggest power generater and will be moving away from coal as a fuel source over the next year.
The Environmental Health & Safety Officer role is to support local management and staff to ensure compliance with relevant Environmental Health and Safety legislation. In this EHS role, you will develop, implement, and improve the EHS plans, programmes and procedures for the site as well as maintaining the EPA Industrial Emissions.
The ideal candidate will be flexible and have strong administration, commercial and inter-personal skills and will work closely with the management team.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will cover but not be limited to the items below:
• Ensure compliance with relevant Environmental legislation, accredited external standards and company standards including compliance with Industrial Emissions Licence, Green House Gas Permit and maintaining ISO 14001 accreditation
• Advise station management of instances requiring notification to the EPA
• Develop environmental improvement plans to drive continuous improvement and ensure that all improvement programmes are implemented within time, cost and scope targets.
• Training of operatives/staff.
• Coordinate on-site sampling, monitoring, and reporting in accordance with licence conditions.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports, letters, and memorandums with respect to compliance matters including monthly and annual returns to EPA, GHG etc
• Liaise with members of the public, professional bodies, and suppliers on compliance & legal related issues and training staff on good waste management practices.
• Ensure compliance with relevant Health and Safety legislation, accredited external standards and company standards and support the maintaining the ISO45001 accreditation
• Preparation / advice on preparation of Method Statements, Safety Statements, etc.
• Performing regular inspections and assessments to identify and evaluate potential on-site hazards.
• Communicate toolbox talks and carry out site inductions.
• Provide monthly EHS metrics.
• Support with the role of the new Safe System of Work Program
• Attend the local safety committee meeting and support the Environmental Improvement Plan
• Compile and review risk assessments, method statements and safety procedures.
• Any other work as assigned by their line Manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
• Excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of ISO45001, ISO14001
• Ability to work to tight deadline, achieve challenging targets and self-motivated.
• High standard of computer skills required.
• Hold a full valid driving licence.
• Strong safety auditing skills
Desirable
• Experience with EPA Waste Licence site.
• Good knowledge of Irish environmental legislation, codes of practice and standards
• Use of SHIELD.
Qualifications
Essential
- Either 3rd Level qualification or equivalent work experience is required

Salary
€57,950 - €68,150
