Position Description 

Coolkeeragh Power Station comprises a 400 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine and 53MW Open Cycle Gas Turbine and is located in Maydown, Northern Ireland.  

 

The Operations Manager will form part of the senior management team at Coolkeeragh Power Station taking responsibility for the maintenance of the plant.

Key Responsibilities 

The key responsibility of this role is to maintain a best-in-class CCGT Power Station and meeting the contractual obligations and commercial targets set for the plant. Other key responsibilities will include but not be limited to: 

  • Leading and managing multiple operational teams supporting the business on a 24/7 basis.
  • Optimising the commercial and technical operation of the plant.  
  • Acting as Nominated Safety Engineer for the site and leading all aspect of safety at the site and across broader company.  
  • Maintaining a best-in-class Operations Team performance for the plant and ensuring all required skills and competencies are developed and maintained within that team.  
  • Promoting & fostering teamwork across all Coolkeeragh Teams and empowering and developing operations teams to deliver optimum capability.  
  • Dealing effectively with statutory and other bodies to ensure plant runs to highest standards within REMIT and other obligations. 
  • Continuously reviewing and updating operations policies and procedures.  
  • Review, report on and minimising plant incidents.  

 

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience 

 The following are considered essential for the role:  

  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in power plant or similar process industry operating at Team Leader and/or power station management level.  
  • Demonstrated ability in leading a highly performing and commercially focused team.  
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage and influence stakeholders and also present information to recipients at different levels of the organisation.   
  • Strong IT skills.  

Desirable

  • A Health and Safety Qualification.
  • Knowledge of the ISEM market and UK regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in project management and/or good planning skills.

 

Qualifications 

  • A recognised degree in an appropriate engineering discipline or substantial equivalent work experience

The position will be based in Coolkeeragh Power Station, Maydown, Northern Ireland.

Salary

£72,000 - £90,000
