Governance Specialist
Position Description
Generation and Trading develop and operate ESB’s electricity generation assets and trades their output to meet market and customer needs. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work in a fast paced and dynamic business area. The GT finance team is central to the delivery of ESB’s ambitious renewable generation targets, and the maintenance of GT’s financial strength as it supports the energy transition and transforms its business model.
Reporting to the GT Governance Manager, the governance specialist role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to support business managers and process owners and to manage governance and risk reporting requirements for Generation & Trading. The successful candidate will work with the Governance Manager to champion a culture of good governance across the GT business unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting completion of key quarterly and annual governance reporting including compliance with the Code of Practice, Group Internal Audit reporting and other relevant policies
- Conduct local control reviews to effectively assess control environments, and evaluate business processes, risks and relevant controls, providing recommendations for control environment as appropriate
- Develop and analyse governance reporting metrics
- Ensuring key governance documents and policies are kept up to date for Generation & Trading, and communicated to relevant stakeholders
- Provide advice and input in matters of governance and compliance
- Support and challenge business managers to ensure appropriate evidence-based sign-off is in place on key risks and processes
- Delivery of continuous improvement initiatives and various projects within the governance function
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- Third level qualification (preferably in Business or Finance)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Governance, Risk or Compliance role
- Excellent understanding of best practice Governance, Risk and Compliance
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Strong auditing skills, ability to identify issues, root causes and corrective actions
- Excellent communication (oral and written) skills
- Highly motivated – able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
Desirable
- A GRC related qualification
- Process improvement experience
- Strong knowledge of ESB’s systems and processes
Location
This position will be based in ESB Head Office, Fitzwilliam 27, Dublin.

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least two days per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.

Salary
€57,950 - €68,150
