Senior Back Office Analyst [Temporary 12 months]
Position Description
ESB Trading delivers essential asset optimisation services, risk management and wholesale market access to ESB Group and to its third party customers.
ESB Trading is organised into a number of teams comprising Front, Middle (Risk Management) and Back Offices along with Finance, Modelling and Business Support.
The Back Office function comprising of two teams (Commodity Operations and Complex Contracts) is responsible for:
- Managing all ESB energy trading related payments and receivables circa €5bn per annum
- Managing the associated external and internal communications and any exception resolution
- Providing an independent confirmation, monitoring, validation and recording function for energy trading
- Managing all ESB energy regulation trade reporting for EMIR and REMIT
- Managing the development of settlement and reporting solutions for on-boarding new counterparties, product types and bespoke contracts.
We are currently looking for a highly motivated, dynamic senior back office analyst to work within a team of professionals responsible for the delivery of back office services to both the ESB Trading and Customer Solutions businesses.
Key Responsibilities
This is a senior role within the Back Office team and requires strong knowledge and understanding of end-to-end trading processes and systems, as well as the Irish and UK energy markets.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the team manager and will be involved in a range of activities including:
- Leading and management of on-boarding process for all new products, contracts and counterparties.
- Driving process improvement initiatives for Back Office.
- Confirmation and settlement for all trading activities.
- Interpretation and implementation of trading regulation (new and changing) on behalf of Back Office.
- Delivery of all financial regulation reporting for ESB Trading (EMIR, REMIT etc)
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
The successful candidate should possess the following:
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience
- It is expected that the successful candidate will possess a recognised financial qualification either professional or 3rd level qualification or equivalent work experience.
- Strong relevant experience (e.g. Energy, Settlements, Process Improvement)
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- Be prepared to think creatively and seek innovative solutions
- Be able to seek out new opportunities
- Have strong analytical and reporting skills
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to respond to change within a fast changing business environment
- Team player
- Proven ability to work on own initiative and deliver results to strict deadlines
- Strong technical and financial knowledge
Desirable
- An understanding of energy markets including financial regulation reporting (EMIR, REMIT)
- SAP experience
Location
This position will be based in Fitzwilliam 27, Fitzwilliam Street Lower, Dublin 2.

Reporting To
The successful candidate will report to the Commodity Operations Manager, Back Office, ESB Trading.

Salary
€57,950 - €68,150
