Position Description

 

The IT & Digital team is responsible for developing and delivering the IT & Digital Strategy required by the business to support the strategic objectives of Generation & Trading, and to manage implementation of the Strategy in a cost-effective and value-driven manner.

 

The current Information Technology & Digital landscape includes a suite of applications to manage work and support the safety of plant and personnel together with a supporting Telecoms infrastructure, and to trade and participate in the all-Island market. Support and development for the GT application suite is managed in close partnership with Enterprise Services. The Telecommunications landscape is heavily dependent on investments in SCADA, Digital mobile radio, as well as extensive LAN and WAN networks.

 

In line with the overall ESB digital strategy, the Generation & Trading IT & Digital team is seeking to extend the reach of digital technology within the Generation & Trading business. A key goal of the team is to work with Generation & & Trading stakeholders to identify digital and telecoms opportunities that will deliver value to the business.

 

Applications are invited for the positions of Senior IT & Digital Analyst on the Generation & Trading IT & Digital team in ESB Generation and Trading (GT).

  

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Work closely with various business owners to define the detailed business requirements for IT and Telecoms systems across the Generation & Trading business.
  • Working with business managers and CIO to ensure Strategic Alignment and Strategic Design is exploited to enable GT’s business transformation objectives.
  • Provide innovative options analysis ensuring that business needs and underlying architecture are aligned, both now and into the future.
  • Keep abreast of industry developments through research, networking and attendance at Industry conferences.
  • Work with Enterprise Services to maintain Generation & Trading IT Application Portfolio/Roadmaps, Landscape Architecture & GT Reference Architecture.
  • Understand how the underlying IT & Telecoms architecture of the GT business works and assess impact of proposed changes to same.
  • Identify opportunities where Digital initiatives can add value to the GT business.
  • Create the supporting business cases for GT governance boards to prioritise investment and seek approval to deliver.
  • Support the overall capital budgeting process for the IT & Telecoms work programme.
  • Support the planning of IT & Telecom product upgrades.
  • Support the delivery of the GT IT & Telecoms work programme through both waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • Manage relationships between GT and internal and external partners.

 

 

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

 

  • Relevant IT experience with a proven track record
  • Experience of solution recommendations based on future roadmaps and future proofing
  • Experience of analysis and verification of User Requirement Documentation, Functional Specification and Technical Design Specification
  • Excellent communication skills – ability to communicate information regarding the project in a timely and effective manner
  • Ability to manage stakeholders, and to work with individuals from all levels within the organisation
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Knowledge of Generation & Trading core business processes
  • Knowledge and working experience of IT systems and their operations.

Location

 

This position will be located in ESB Head Office, Dublin but may require travel to the Generation & Trading sites from time to time.

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least one anchor day per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.

 

 

Reporting to

 

The successful candidate will report to the relevant IT & Digital Business Partner in GT. Reporting arrangements will be in line with business needs and may change over time.

Salary

 

€55,700 - €65,500
