Join our dedicated team where we are involved in the delivery of civil engineering services from feasibility through construction stage across a wide range of electricity infrastructure projects supporting ESB’s strategic objectives of decarbonising electricity, building resilient infrastructure and empowering clients. 

 

The range of electricity generation projects being developed include renewables projects such as onshore wind and solar, long duration energy storage, hydrogen production as well as conventional thermal generation stations. 

The Senior Civil, Structural Engineer role involves leading the delivery of civil engineering inputs from feasibility through construction stage for electricity infrastructure projects for ESB. This means leading the technical engineering services in the delivery of project works packages and advising on appropriate engineering solutions for various aspects of projects.  

 

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

Responsibilities will include the items below:  

 

  • Taking ownership of and demonstrating a visible commitment to safety and quality. 

  • Providing civil, structural engineering technical input from project concept to detailed design, in the delivery of engineering works. 

  • Managing all relevant civil/structural engineering and associated disciplines’ input required to successfully deliver projects including the management of civil works contracts. 

  • Managing engineering works package(s) relating to the delivery of electricity infrastructure projects as required including scoping, procuring, technical assessment 

  • Building and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Mentoring and training of junior staff. 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience 

 

Essential 

 

  • Minimum 5 years relevant design office or construction site experience  

  • Strong technical capability, in civil and structural engineering design or relevant site experience and competence to deliver civil/structural engineering packages. 

  • A strong commercial and project management capability. 

  • Relevant experience in assessing, communicating and managing project critical technical risks.  

  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading significant civil engineering projects or aspects of significant projects. 

  • Experience in leading the civil engineering design or significant on-site elements of projects. 

  • Full driving licence and access to a car. 

 

Desirable 

 

  • The demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.  

  • Experience in the use of FIDIC Conditions of Contract, including EPC, D&B Contracting and Multi Direct Contracting of large projects. 

  • Experience in the use of Eurocodes 

  • Drainage and utilities design experience. 

  • Experience in performing PSDP/PD role on projects 

 

 

Qualifications 

 

Essential 

 

  • Level 8 Civil /Structural Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification 

 

Desirable 

 

  • Level 9 Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification. 

  • Chartered status in a recognised professional engineering institution.  

 

 

Location  

 

This position will be based at our EMP office at Fitzwilliam 27, Dublin or Cork, but travel to project locations as required is a key requirement of the role.

Salary 

 

€57,950 to €68,150 per annum
