Voice & Video Services Team Manager, Networks Telecoms
Position Description
Telecommunications are transforming our lives in the way we live and work and are essential to the remote management of systems and assets. ESB's Networks Telecoms group has over one hundred staff providing the critical operational telecom networks needed to deliver the broadband and data circuits required to control the distribution, transmission and generation systems.
Networks Telecoms deliver this by operating and managing the largest private Telecoms Network in Ireland and are among a leading group of European utilities building our own private Long Term Evolution (LTE) Network. These initiatives are a critical part of our move to Smart Networks and the digitisation of ESB.
The successful candidate will lead a team of telecommunications professionals with responsibility for critical communications systems for our Customer Engagement Platforms used in the ESB Networks, Electric Ireland and ESB Enterprise Services. The team is also responsible for the procurement and commercial management of significant telecommunications contracts. The role is well suited to an ambitious professional who wants to develop their career in a critical leadership role with huge potential for growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading a highly skilled team to develop and maintain customer engagement platforms including ACD, IVR and multi-channel communications to all ESB customers.
- Leading procurement and supplier engagement for multiple large telecommunications contracts for the ESB group.
- Leading work programmes for the deployment of new telecommunications infrastructure.
- Owning the support and maintenance of a wide variety of systems in line with agreed SLAs.
- Managing the sourcing and management of specialist contractors to support the team.
- Drive a strong safety, quality, and high-performance team culture.
- Leading engagement and communication with senior stakeholders (both internal and external).
- Development of people and building capability to meet business needs.
- After-hours support may be a feature and will come with an associated allowance
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- A degree in engineering, IT or a business discipline or equivalent work experience.
- A minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience.
- An ability to develop capability and positively lead a team of highly qualified professionals.
- An understanding of telecommunications technologies and systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Strong commercial management experience.
- An understanding of safety and wellbeing in creating a positive working environment.
- Full clean EU driving licence. Travel is required.
Desirable
- Experience of procurement and managing commercial contracts.
- An appreciation of cybersecurity and telecommunication network resilience.
- Project management qualification and experience.
- An appreciation of technology to support voice and video systems.
Location
Wilton, Cork or Leopardstown, Dublin (to be confirmed prior to appointment).
Travel throughout the country is an integral part of this role.

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least two anchor days per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.

Salary
€71,000 - €84,000 per annum
