Hydro Team Member, Technical Services Officer, Donegal Stations (Band 3)
Position Description
A vacancy exists for the position of Hydro Team Member, Technical Services Officer.
The Hydro Team Member will be required to work across all functional areas within the station providing technical services to the maintenance, operations, and civil teams. The successful candidate will be required to work to the level of their competence to carry out their duties. They will be required to work autonomously, be flexible, be a self-starter, and provide support to other teams and projects as required. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others is required.
The Hydro Team Member will work in a dynamic environment and to meet the business needs. The successful candidate will give and receive training as defined by plant management to attain and maintain competencies.
Key Responsibilities
Duties of the role includes but may not be limited to:
- Delivery of work across all areas of the station, including maintenance, operations control room, civil, technical and support functions. Water control works tracking
- Execute procurement processes for services and parts. Run reports from the work management system. Process station Purchase Orders. Management of Plant Modification process and documentation
- Maintaining Station technical and safety documentation and completing reports on inspections and works. Assisting with compliance to ESB standards and guidelines
- Act as Work Controller for contractor services including but not limited to security, lift inspections, insurance inspections, gate works, cabin hire, generator hire, mobile plant hire, fire safety inspections etc. Maintain compliance with the environmental management system. Provide backup supervision as required
- Preparation and management of project justifications and business cases. Providing procurement support including requirement to create specifications, tenders and administer contracts and supervise contractors
- Be fully competent to act as a Work Controller under the safety rules and execute all duties required under the role. Coordinate stationary stores across all stations and maintain tool calibration database and coordinate calibrations.
- Coordinate maintenance and tracking of Donegal Stations vehicle fleet. Manage small station works from conception through execution. Plan and schedule contractor works
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- A minimum of 2 years experience in the operation of Work Management Systems and Contractor Management. Third level qualification or relevant work experience is essential
- Excellent knowledge of PC’s
- Full B driving licence
- Working knowledge of computerised control systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
- Strong safety focus and knowledge and ability to lead safety culture and Excellent planning skills.
Desirable
- Experience and technical knowledge of power station maintenance or maintenance practices in similar heavy process industry
- Experience in project management
- Experience in a technical planning role in industry
- Knowledge of Safe Systems of work, Permitting and Isolating processes.
Location
The successful person will be based at Cathleen Falls Station in Ballyshannon with travel to Cliff (Ballyshannon) and Clady (Gweedore) stations required.
Reporting to
Initially reporting to the Plant Manager.

Salary
(€41,525 - €48,852)
