Position Description 

 

A vacancy exists for the position of Supervisor, Donegal Stations.

 

The Supervisor will be required to work across all functional areas within the station including technical services, maintenance, operations, civil, supervision, and contractor management. The successful candidate will lead the electrical maintenance team with coverage responsibilities for the mechanical team as needed. The Production Supervisor shall ensure that all maintenance works are carried out in line with station policies. They will be required to work autonomously, be flexible, be a self-starter, and provide support to other teams and projects as required. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others is required.

 

The Supervisor will be required to cover works at the Cathaleen’s Fall Station & Grounds in Ballyshannon, Cliff Station & Grounds in Ballyshannon, and Clady Station & Grounds in Gweedore.

 

The Supervisor will work in a dynamic environment and to meet the business needs. The successful candidate will be required on occasions to have flexible working hours including weekend and night working and be available for call-outs.  

 

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

Duties of the role includes but may not be limited to:  

 

  • Supervise team and contractors, and manage all people related issues within the team. 
  • Prioritise, plan, schedule and coordinate the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance activities to ensure business continuity.  
  • Delivery of work across all areas of the station, including maintenance, operations, control room, civil, technical, and support functions
  • Ensure safety of staff and contractors through compliance with safety systems, including work permitting, setting to work and risk assessments/ method statements 
  • Ensuring the Maintenance Team have all required skills and competencies to meet the demands of their roles. Carry out work in a hands-on capacity.
  • Dealing effectively with stakeholders including suppliers, statutory bodies, outside agencies and contractors. 
  • Develop and work to budgets including execution of procurement processes, management of spares, and management of inventory. 
  • Procurement and tendering of key services and components. 
  • Liaising effectively with other ESB departments and Hydro Control Centre as required to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the Plant.
  • Management of other plant specific projects as required whilst maintaining compliance to ESB standards and guidelines.
  • Maintaining compliance with the environmental and safety management system .
  • Carry out the role of Work Controller under the safety rules and execute all duties required under the role for all functional areas of the station. 
  • Promote & foster teamwork by empowering and developing maintenance teams to deliver optimum capability. 
  • Provide coverage for Plant Controller duties within the Control Room and act as a Safety from the System Coordinator as needed. Plan the work using the work management system and keep the work management system updated.

 

 

Experience and Qualifications  

Essential 

 

  • 4 years experience and technical knowledge of power station maintenance or maintenance practices in similar heavy process industry. 
  • FAS / SOLAS / Senior Trade qualification in a relevant discipline (electrical, mechanical) or equivalent relevant discipline.  
  • Full B driving licence.  
  • Strong safety focus and knowledge of the setting people to work safely and ability and desire to lead safety culture. 
  • Team building and leadership qualities with a proven track record in supervising personnel. 
  • Experience in the operation of Work Management Systems and Contractor Management and excellent knowledge of PC’s.
  • Working knowledge of computerised control systems, instrumentation and controls  and of PLCs.
  • Working knowledge of troubleshooting and calibration of instrumentation and controls, of relay protection and of high voltage testing. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and excellent planning skills.

 

Desirable 

 

  • Experience in project management 
  • Knowledge of Safe Systems of work, Permitting and Isolating processes.  
  • Experience working with SAP system and CMMS+ 

 

Location 

 

The successful candidate will be based at Cathaleen’s Fall Hydro Station. This role will also include travel to Clady Station Gweedore as per business needs. 

 

 

Reporting to 

 

Initially reporting to the Plant Manager.

Salary

€59,795 - €70,348 per annum
