National Continuity Specialist

Position Description

The continuity specialist will have wide ranging responsibility for achieving the continuity performance set by CRU. The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of NMS. S/he will support planner group teams across Customer Delivery in the drive to improve continuity performance.  S/he will be able to integrate continuity related technology into existing business processes to make new technology business as usual and create associated documentation to OneSource standard.  The position will have extensive external interactions and the successful candidate will be expected to have functional relationships with multi-disciplinary teams across a wide variety of areas including financial, technical, data analytics, work delivery and business process integration.

This role will provide an excellent opportunity to oversee the process changes to lead ESBN into CRU incentive reward territory and give all our customers the most fundamental service of our business e.g. ‘keeping the lights on’.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to planner group teams across Customer Delivery
  • Continue to develop the progress of the TSM forum
  • Liaise with and support the Continuity Excellence Project
  • Oversee and maintain the CD Continuity Share-point site
  • Continue the development of continuity patrolling
  • Create and document procurement specifications for Continuity devices including fuse replacement technology, Sensors, Switches, Mobile Generation etc.
  • Integrate new continuity related technology into the ‘Business as Usual’
  • Ensure compliance with safety and health legislation through a structured programme of risk assessment, documented with safe system of work, training and approvals
  • Develop documentation for training and Operations (Field and centralised) in cooperation with Operations Team and National training centre
  • Develop a Data Analytics capability across multiple systems to extract business intelligence to help improve continuity performance and focus investment
  • Play an integral part in evaluating reliability of devices for entire life cycle from procurement to retirement
  • Provide support to wider Networks community, Network Assets, Program Delivery, Project Delivery etc, regarding Continuity improvement
  • Input to continuity related Operational and Asset Management policy

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 7 years relevant experience
  • Excellent Communication, stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrable Documentation and reporting skills
  • Working knowledge of NMS

 

Desirable

  • Broad knowledge of established and emerging continuity related SMART technologies
  • Knowledge of Safety Rules, MV System, Protection, Telecommunications, Information Technology
  • Knowledge of Operations procedures for MV and LV networks
  • Knowledge of writing technical procurement specifications

 

Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant 3rd level qualification in Engineering or Technology or equivalent work experience

Salary

€69,000 to €81,000 per annum
