Position Description

This is a technologist role within the Advanced Metering Device Operations team.

The Advanced Metering Device Operations (AMDO) team is a key function in the Smart Metering Operations Centre (SMOC) and supports all LV Single Phase & Three Phase Smart Meters. This includes testing of smart meter operating software (firmware),  meter functionality, accuracy and physical compliance using repeatable and auditable testing plans. Testing of enhanced smart meter features, integration with other devices & next generation smart meters including proof of concept testing will be a feature of this role. 
Investigation and  validation of smart meters returned from the field to support quality & accuracy assurance, fault root cause analysis, secure disposal, meter defect understanding and cataloguing.

 

This role will support the operation AMDO Test Facilities where large volumes of smart meters are under test.
 

Remote analysis and testing onsite in test facilities will be a requirement of this role.

 

On the job training & upskilling will be a feature of this role.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Testing of Smart Meter firmware , functionality and remotely configurable software
  • Operate & maintain AMDO Test Facilities
  • Carry out triage processes on all returned smart meters to support RCA, warranty claims and defect understanding and documentation.  
  • Carry out quality assurance including accuracy testing of smart meters using metrology test benches.
  • Support proof of concept validation of new metering implementations and special meter tests/investigations.
  • Ability to work across DMSO functions and communicate effectively with AMDO SMEs, SMOC and the Business Service Delivery project team.

 

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Advanced Level 6 Electrical Craft Certificate or Equivalent Work Experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a qualified NT
  • Proven self-starter with excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Proven ability to operate to deadlines
  • Full, clean driving licence - travel will be a feature of this role.

Desirable

  • Experience with commissioning metering or protection systems
  • Experience of RCA and report writing
  • Knowledge of Smart Meter functionality
  • ESB Networks metering/commissioning approvals
  • On the job training will be provided for AMI specialised systems, experience with IT systems is desirable. 

 

Location

This position will be based in Dublin

Salary 

€48,000 to €56,000 per annum
