Audit Manager
Position description
This is role is based in a centralised Accounting & Reporting function in ESB. An area responsible for delivering the ESB Group Annual Report and over one hundred subsidiary statutory financial statements.
The principal purpose of this role is to plan and co-ordinate the delivery of group and subsidiary external audit process and manage the relationship with the external auditors.
It is a diverse and challenging role requiring strong project management skills and stakeholder management capabilities, including the maintenance of relationships with the Accounting and Reporting Teams. There will be a requirement to monitor progress of these teams against a plan and drive performance as required.
The successful candidate will gain an appreciation of the overall financial issues facing the Group. The role also requires a detailed understanding of the key financial issues in each ESB business, involving a high level of interaction with senior financial and operational management.

Key Responsibilities
- Project manage the statutory accounts audit process for over one hundred subsidiary companies from planning stages through to signing of accounts.
- Lead a small Statutory Accounts Administration Team.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders including external auditors.
- Support the co-ordination of the Group Audit process.
- Drive continuous improvement in the quality and efficiency of the audit process.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- Ability to take initiative, identify issues, develop solutions and drive through business improvements.
- Strong attention to detail, strong organisation skills and strong sense of ownership.
- A recognised accounting qualification with minimum 4 years PQE or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills (managing the relationship with the external auditor is a key feature of the role).
- Strong knowledge of auditing practices and the audit process.
- Significant experience with statutory financial statements..
- A strong grasp of technical accounting standards, in particular IFRS, and Company Law.
Desirable
- Advanced MS Excel skills would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of CaseWare software would be an advantage
Location
This position will be based in ESB Head Office, 27 Lower Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin 2.

Salary
€69,500 - €81,800
