CAD Technician (Architectural)
The Buildings Development Team, Group Property Strategy & Development within Engineering and Major Projects, provides the full range of planning, design, construction and maintenance services required to deliver electricity-industry infrastructure projects across Ireland.
The CAD Technician (Architectural) produces Revit models and CAD drawings to support the delivery of building projects across ESB, helping to deliver the Net Zero by 2040 strategy for both new developments and existing assets. The role spans the planning, tender and construction phases and includes providing technical input, coordinating architectural information and developing buildable details.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide architectural technician support across planning, tender and construction stages for a range of building projects.
- Produce Revit building information models and coordinated CAD drawing packages.
- Collaborate with the architectural team to deliver high-quality outputs that meet stakeholder requirements.
- Coordinate design information with other disciplines (structural, mechanical, electrical, fire engineering and quantity surveying) as required.
- Review and analyse project information to support effective, compliant designs.
- Complete site quality assurance/quality control inspections to confirm works comply with drawings, specifications and applicable standards.
- Carry out setting-out and other surveying checks, as required, to verify contractor compliance.
- Champion ESB’s safety culture by taking ownership and demonstrating visible commitment to health and safety in all activities.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience in an architectural consultancy practice (or similar) with a portfolio demonstrating strong technical detailing.
- Level 7 degree in Architectural Technology or a related discipline.
- Expert-level proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, producing architectural models and drawing sets for planning, tender and construction stages.
- Experience working in a BIM environment.
- Strong capability in architectural detailing and producing buildable solutions.
- Strong capability in producing specifications and schedules.
- Good understanding of Irish building regulations and fire safety requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Ability to work on own initiative and to tight deadlines.
- Organised and adaptable, with a flexible approach to work.
- Strong prioritisation skills and attention to detail.
Desirable
- Experience using document management systems.
- Experience applying Safety in Design principles.
- Full driving licence and access to a car
Location
This position is based in ESB E&MP’s offices in The Sidings, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin or Eastgate, Little Island, Cork and will require national travel as part of general duties.

Salary
€41,000 - €48,000 per annum
