Position Description  

As a strong, diversified, vertically integrated utility, ESB operates right across the electricity market: from generation, through transmission and distribution, to supply. ESB must comply with a range of regulatory, license and other legal obligations that includes specific confidentiality and business separate provisions. 

 

Group Compliance is responsible for ensuring that effective compliance frameworks are in place, supported by group policies and procedures. The role of the Compliance Manager is instrumental to supporting the Group Compliance Senior Manager in developing, maintaining, communicating and implementing enhancements to the compliance frameworks in place across the organisation and providing assurance that these frameworks are operating effectively.

 

The role also involves driving training and awareness to ensure that ESB’s values, particularly for being “Trusted” are reflected in our compliance with regulatory and related external reporting and engagement. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Manage and enhance the frameworks in place to oversee regulatory license and ringfencing compliance for the Group.
  • Manage group wide regulatory queries/investigations relating to the CRU and oversee any group wide Consultations.
  • Provide assurance on regulatory compliance at a pan Group perspective and reporting to the Board / Executive Team where required. 
  • Manage and oversee delivery of ESB’s Sanctions Compliance Programme and Know your Customer (KYC) requirements.
  • Manage and enhance the framework in place to oversee Lobbying compliance for the Group, including Lobbying Act submissions, training and awareness and group reporting requirements.
  • Support the Group Compliance Senior Manager in developing, maintaining and enhancing the Group Compliance Framework and Group Policy Management framework, including horizon scanning of new compliance obligations.
  • Collaborate with Business Units and second line functions to ensure ESB continues to comply with its compliance obligations and provide support, training and guidance as required.
  • Build enduring and trusted relationships with Regulators, which support the achievement of business objectives and mitigate the risks of sanctions.
  • Deploy digital solutions to drive efficiencies in compliance processes.

 

Experience and Qualifications  

Essential 

  • Third level qualification or governance, compliance related qualifications.
  • At least 10 years’ post graduate business experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative and deliver results to strict deadlines.
  • Good decision making, risk analysis and problem-solving capability.
  • Innovative thinker and strong organisational skills.

Desirable  

  • Experience in a regulatory function is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of governance, risk management and compliance principles desirable.

 

Location  

This position will be based in 27 Fitzwilliam Street Lower, Dublin 2. 

 

Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in-person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week. All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the business. 

 

Reporting To 

This role will report to the Group Compliance Senior Manager, 27 Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin 2.

Salary 
€86,300 - €101,600 per annum (depending on experience)
