Contestable Connections Support Manager
Position Description
Join our dedicated team where we support third party customers who are responsible for designing and building the electrical network required to connect their developments (renewables & load demand) to the Transmission or Distribution Network systems.
The team specialises in:
- Providing safety, technical and quality assurance to ESB Networks Assets on all assets delivered by the Customer and ensuring the assets are delivered in accordance with relevant specifications and standards.
- Supporting the Customer, ESB Networks and the Transmission System Operator at all stages of HV & MV projects that are delivered by the Customer, from project initiation to post-energisation.
- Coordinating the design review and construction quality audits on all assets designed and constructed by the Customer i.e. substations, civils, cables, overhead lines, earthing & lightning & telecoms.

Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities include:
- Manage the performance and approval of all of team deliverables to ensure safety and a consistent high level of quality to meet ESB’s requirements and delivery dates.
- Oversee and lead the team's performance on the contestable connection support process for Customer delivered projects. Such contestable connection support process to encompass scoping, cost estimation, design, construction, scheduling, training, development, mentoring, and stakeholder engagement.
- Provide updates on project milestones and team achievements to management.
- Oversee and assess the team's project portfolio commercial performance, cost management and input at project development phase.
- Develop and implement plans to improve and standardise processes, specifications, and standards, incorporating feedback from project reviews and lessons learned
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential
- Minimum 7 years' relevant experience.
- Experience in delivering Medium/High Voltage connections with an understanding of all deliverables including scoping, planning, design, costing, construction, and commissioning.
- Proven ability to lead a team to a high level of performance and contributing to the training and development of professionals.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple stakeholders and inputs.
- A flexible approach to work especially where necessary to deliver excellent customer care.
- Full Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable
- Experience in design and construction of Medium/High Voltage connections (substations, civils, cables and/or overhead lines), including experience as a team leader, managing work programmes or project delivery
- Chartered engineering status or working towards
Qualifications
Essential
- Either 3rd Level qualification or equivalent work experience is essential
Desirable
- PSDP Competency
- Site Working Competency
Location
Your base will be at one of EMP's offices situated at One Dublin Airport Central or East gate Cork.

Salary
€66,800 - €78,600 per annum.
