Contractor Safety Compliance Auditor, Timber and Overhead Lines
Position Description
The Timber & Overhead Lines (OHL) compliance auditor leads and promotes a safety culture amongst all Timber & OHL framework contractors so that safe behaviour becomes the norm and that the business unit target of zero lost time injuries is achieved.
Ensuring the safety and competence of contracting resources is a key component of the role and the Safety Compliance auditor will manage the compliance of all Timber & OHL framework contractors in an efficient manner and to the highest safety standards through consistent auditing. The Safety compliance auditor will also partake in any incident investigations that they may be asked to partake in.
The Safety Compliance Auditor will also provide safety and technical expertise support to the CPG Training and Approvals team.
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the role will include:
- Scheduling and carry out of safety and quality audits per agreed audit schedules and feeding back audit performance to staff and contractors.
- Supports and coaches’ contractors on safety, standards, training and performance
- Support the Timber & OHL Approvals Team Leaders in the development of CPG Safety strategy to ensure safety training and assessment policies and procedures remain relevant to our contractor delivery strategy.
- Use appropriate IT systems to assist in the management of day-to-day activities
- Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Provide clear, timely communications to all Timber & OHL framework contractors and invite feedback
- Monitor and report on progress against key activities
- Flexibility in managing additional tasks, as may be assigned from time to time

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
- Knowledge of ESB OHL Network Assets
- Knowledge of Company standards for Tree/Vegetation Management on the Overhead Electricity Network
- Knowledge of the ESBN Safety Rules and Procedures
- ESB Networks Business knowledge
- Knowledge of ESBN Network Operations and Procedures
- 5-7 relevant years’ experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Full clean driving licence
Desirable
- ESB IT Systems and Applications knowledge
- Arboriculture Timber cutting standards and safety requirements
Qualifications
- Advanced Level 6 Electrical Craft Certificate/ A Suitable Level 7 or higher qualification in Electrical, Electrical Services, Electronics, Mechanical or other suitable qualification with a sizable electrical theory content
Location
The position is a national role and therefore the base location is flexible. Nationwide travel will be a feature of this role.

Salary
€57,000 to €67,000 per annum
