Position Description

We manage a vast array of Enterprise IT and Operational Technologies (OT) which reside in our state-of-the art data centers, in our power generation plants, and in our critical operations centers – all requiring the appropriate level of security to protect our business.
Together, these technologies support our critical national infrastructure, and the CISO Team in CIO, Enterprise Services are seeking to fill a variety of Cybersecurity roles to support our transformation to a digital utility.
We are looking for talented, personable and ambitious candidates to fill these roles where they will have a key role in shaping how cybersecurity is delivered to meet business goals, supporting major change imperatives and in enabling ESB’s transition to a digital utility in line with regulatory requirements.
Together, these technologies support our critical national infrastructure, and we are recruiting Cybersecurity Specialists to support our transformation to a digital utility. Positions are available in the following areas:
- Engineering & Asset Security
- Threat & Vulnerability Management
- Monitoring & Threat Detection
We are seeking to attract candidates who have relevant experience in cybersecurity, IT operations or related areas and successful candidates will have a key role in shaping how cybersecurity is delivered to meet business goals, supporting major change imperatives and in enabling ESB’s transition to a digital utility in line with regulatory requirements. Successful candidates will be required to:
- Work collaboratively within a large CISO organisation and with the wider ESB organisation including IT Operations, Project Delivery and Business Stakeholders and vendor teams to deliver on the cybersecurity objectives;
- Work with several market-leading technologies including Microsoft Defender, Symantec Endpoint Protection, Microsoft Sentinel, Rapid7 Threat & Vulnerability Management and more.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Asset Security
- Govern, maintain and enhance security tools, controls, configurations and security baselines across IT and OT environments.
- Develop and maintain security procedures, documentation and security configuration baselines.
- Manage security changes, exceptions and stakeholder engagement, providing oversight of security controls and supporting incident response, projects and cyber operations.
Threat & Vulnerability Management
- Conduct vulnerability and exposure assessments, prioritise risks and coordinate remediation across IT, OT environments.
- Operate and continuously improve vulnerability management tools, processes, policies, reporting and threat intelligence activities.
Monitoring & Threat Detection
- Monitor, detect and investigate security threats and incidents through Security information and event management (SIEM) tool and other security monitoring platforms.
- Triage and coordinate incident response, containment, recovery and continuous improvement of detection, response and threat monitoring capabilities.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
Applicants should be delivery focused and have the following demonstrable knowledge skills and experience:
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with a proven ability to lead and influence change and to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences.
- Minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience, including experience working in related technical areas.
- Related third-level degree and industry certifications.
- Demonstrable ability to develop and grow new capabilities and skills related to cybersecurity.
- Demonstrated ability to apply technology in solving business problems.
- Self-motivated learner and with proven ability to work as part of a team.
- Strong technical documentation skills.
Desirable
- Familiarity or background with cyber and the cyber threat landscapes is desirable but not essential.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint and Power BI.
- Previous experience working in a Utility Industry would be a bonus.
Location
These positions will be based in ESB Head Office, Dublin, but may from time to time require travel to business unit locations.
Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in-person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week. All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the business.
Reporting To
The successful candidates will be assigned to various Managers in Engineering & Asset Security and Security Operations Centre in CISO, CIO, Enterprise Services.

Salary
€49,800 - €58,600 per annum (depending on experience)
