Data Analyst
Position Description
CIO Enterprise Services (ES) Analytics is part of the ES CIO Analytics function. This team is dedicated to furthering robust technical solutions, AI and analytics within the ES, Group and SIT business units enabling ESB to become an even more data-driven organization.
ESB has set an ambitious and bold course of action to help Ireland achieve climate action targets and transition the country to reliable, affordable, low-carbon energy. In its part, ES Analytics will bring its resources to forefront in helping ESB realize its Brighter Future Strategy.
CIO ES Analytics collaborate very closely with key business stakeholders to identify and understand critical business problems, the underlying data requirements and to further collaborate with CIO Analytics Hub to build robust data solutions.
The successful candidate will use analytics to interpret and gain insights into the data which will support decision making within the business, increase efficiencies across ES, Group and SIT and assist them to meet their strategic objectives as part of our Brighter Future strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate and build strong relationships with the business product owners to produce various data products that deliver measurable business outcomes.
- Gather functional, data and design requirements for each data product.
- Engage in data management and governance process to ensure that quality data is delivered and used for each data product.
- Ensure that each data product is developed and tested in line with ES Analytics standards.
- Ensure that each data product is supported and appropriately maintained in partnership with the business.
- Build strong relationships with CIO Analytics Hub to ensure effective collaboration.
- Proactively seek opportunities to learn and develop within the role.
Experience and Qualifications
The candidate should have a proven track record in working with data to solve business problems with a good understanding of Analytics tools, databases, and their capabilities.
Essential
- A minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering or related fields.
- Experience in designing and developing data visualisations through Power BI.
- Visualisation skills, dashboard design and use of storytelling methods through Power BI.
- Experience using SQL to write stored procedures and functions.
- Experience in managing large, complex, multi-dimensional data sets.
- Stakeholder management and excellent communication skills.
Desirable
- Postgraduate in Data Science / Data Analytics / Maths / Computer Science or similar.
- Experience in SAP BO / BW / 4/Hana.
- An understanding of Analytics Tools, Azure, databases, and their capabilities.
- Experience of working across multiple deployment environments including cloud and on-premise and multiple operating systems
- Experience in project management.
- Proven self-starter with ability to work on own initiative.
- Ideas-driven and creative in finding solutions/ designing improved methods, systems, and processes.
- Actively establishes, maintains, and strengthens internal and external relationships.
Location
This position will be based in F27, Dublin.
ESB is committed to smart working – combining digital tools with a culture of trust and empowerment to enable flexible ways of working. The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least two anchor days per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.
Reporting To
The successful candidate will report to the Enterprise Services Data Analytics Spoke Lead.

Salary
€49,800 - €58,600 per annum, depending on experience.
