Position Description 

  

The Enterprise Services business unit is the strategic advisor to ESB’s businesses. It is also responsible for delivery and operational excellence. ESB Group operates one of the most advanced and critical technology landscapes in Ireland.  

  

We are recruiting a Digital Strategy and Transformation Lead for ESB Networks to transform ESB to a digital utility. Successful candidates will work with our business and IT capabilities to identify where digital, and data can help solve the energy industry’s decarbonisation challenge. 

  

This will include: 

  • Extracting insights and identifying areas of opportunity from operational data 

  • Facilitating the development of problem-solving ideas among business and IT leaders through design thinking and analytical techniques 

  • Engaging with our partner ecosystem to understand the potential benefits of new technologies and modern ways of working. 

  

This position is in the Digital Accelerator which is in the office of the CIO and will work alongside members of the team including Digital Strategy and Transformation Leads for Enterprise Services and CS and for Generation and Trading.  

  

  

Key Responsibilities:   

  

  • Develop and communicate a vision for how digital can unlock value aligned with strategic objectives goals. Provide leadership and direction to ensure the successful implementation of digital initiatives 

  • Partner with key stakeholders, including Business Leaders, Architecture, Cyber, Analytics, IT Delivery, Change Management and operations teams to ensure alignment and support for digital initiatives 

  • Lead the creation of strategic vision and high-level solution design artefacts (e.g. customer journeys, service blueprints, prioritised features, value case etc) 

  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration using design thinking and conventional analytical methodologies where practical to drive transformation efforts 

  • Develop and manage comprehensive digital transformation roadmaps, identifying key initiatives to deliver transformation incrementally 

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends including Generative AI. Engage with Solution Planning exercises to valuate and recommend appropriate technologies and digital solutions that can enhance operational efficiency and customer experience 

  • Advocate for a human-centric approach in all initiatives. Utilise qualitative and quantitative data to understand customer/employee needs and preferences in the design of solutions that enhance engagement and satisfaction 

  • Leverage data analytics capabilities to inform strategic decisions and measure the impact of digital initiatives. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track value to ensure benefits are realised. 

  • Execute research for enhancing experiences and increasing efficiency utilising ESB’s partner ecosystem to understand potential opportunities to transform 

  • Engage proactively with delivery teams to ensure the experience envisaged can be delivered. 

  

  

Experience & Qualifications 

  

Essential  

  

  • Minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience 

  • Strategy development, digital product design, business analysis or similar IT experience 

  • Relevant 3rd level Degree or equivalent work experience 

  

Desirable  

  

  • Design thinking or Product Development  

  • Accreditations such as Safe Agile or Design Sprint  

  • Understanding of large-scale assets such as energy generation and networks 

  • Data analytics 

  

  

Location 

  

This position will be based in F27, ESB Head Office, Dublin 2 (Smart Working suitable).

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least one anchor day per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.

Salary 

 

€66,500 - €78,500 depending on experience
