Join our dedicated team where we support third party customers who are responsible for designing and building the network required to connect their developments (renewables & load demand) to the system. The team specialises in;
- Providing safety, technical and quality assurance to ESB Networks Assets on all contestably built assets and ensure the assets are in accordance with relevant specifications and standards.
- Supporting the customer, ESB Networks and the Transmission System Operator at all stages of contestable HV & MV projects, from project initiation to post-energisation.
- Coordinating the design review and construction quality audits on all assets designed and constructed by the customer i.e. substations, civils, cables, overhead lines, earthing & lightning & telecoms.

Key Responsibilities
- End to end project support from customer connection offers through to commissioning and asset transfer.
- Detailed design review / due diligence on all electrical substation designs ensuring compliance with distribution / transmission specifications and standards.
- Undertaking construction safety & quality audits on contestably delivered projects, ensuring construction is in accordance with submitted designs and specifications.
- Providing valuable feedback and lessons learned from contestably delivered projects to the wider ESB stakeholders and the Transmission System Operator.
- Fully embrace the ESB Safety culture across all activities.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Working as part of this dynamic team, you will always have new challenges and new problems to solve – working together is key. You will have the autonomy to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems with the support of your colleagues.
Essential
- A minimum of 7 years relevant electrical engineering experience.
- Experience in electrical substation design / review including transmission and/or distribution substations, for example, MV, 38 kV, 110 kV and 220 kV substation design.
- Knowledge of AIS and GIS Primary plant and substation secondary systems including manufacturer’s drawings.
- A proven track record in delivering substation engineering projects with an understanding of all elements of substation electrical design and construction.
- Experience in stakeholder management and coordination.
Desirable
- Chartered engineering status or working towards.
- Pre-Commissioning experience.
Qualifications
Essential
- NFQ Level 8 Engineering Degree qualification or equivalent work experience
- Full Driving Licence and access to a car.
Desirable
- PSDP Competency (or CDM equivalent)
Location
Your base will be at one of our offices situated at One Dublin Airport Central or Eastgate Cork.

€69,500 to €81,500 per annum
