Electricity Infrastructure Principal Project Engineer

The HV Cables Specialist lead will play a key role in the delivery of engineering projects for ESB. This role involves close collaboration with design teams, ESB partners, and Contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the design of complex linear utility infrastructure projects from feasibility through detailed design, supporting project design professionals and teams implementing international best practices and standards.

Develop engineering works packages including scope definition, tender, design, procurement, technical assessment and commercial oversight.

Co-ordinate stakeholders consultation and negotiation to progress projects through all lifecycle stages and governance gates – from concept stage through to construction.

Coordinate reviews of internal and external designs to ensure compliance with relevant specifications ensuring that lessons learned are recorded and appropriately actioned.

Provide technical direction and mentoring to project teams and members through collaboration to improve team performance and outcomes.

Management of materials including order processing, tender evaluation and factory acceptance tests.

Project coordination including commercial management, programme management and the role of PSDP
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
-
Level 8 Engineering Degree or equivalent
-
Minimum 7 years of relevant engineering experience

Proven ability to cordinate the management of significant projects or key aspects of projects

Good commercial and project management skills

Good safety awareness and communication skills
-
Valid driver's license for ROI, access to a car, and flexibility to travel nationwide
Desirable

Chartership in a recognized professional institution

Experience in utility or linear infrastructure projects

Familiarity with FIDIC Conditions of Contract or similar

Experience in performing the role of designer on projects and the PSDP role
Location
This position will be based in ESB Engineering and Major Projects (EMP) Offices in Dublin.

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least two days per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.

Salary
€71,000 - €84,000 per annum
