Employee Engagement & Internal Communications Specialist
Position Description
ESB is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Employee Engagement & Communications professional to join them. As ESB and the wider energy sector continue to undergo significant transformation, the pace of change is accelerating. This role will be key in supporting our people through clear, effective communication that fosters engagement and enhances the overall employee experience, ensuring we stay aligned and focused on delivering our Net Zero by 2040 ambition.
You will be part of the Employee Engagement & Communications team, supporting both the wider organisation and business units across all aspects of employee engagement, experience, and communications. The role involves leading the planning, development, delivery, and continuous improvement of internal communications and engagement strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of employee engagement and communications strategies across ESB
- Provide expert guidance and consultancy to senior leaders and central stakeholders on engagement and communications approaches that support enterprise-wide objectives.
- Develop, support, and improve internal communications channels and processes.
- Partner with colleagues across the Employee Engagement & Communications team and external creative agencies to design and deliver impactful, companywide communications campaigns and initiatives.
- Build relationships across ESB to ensure maximum communications effectiveness, collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
- Establish and embed robust measurement and evaluation approaches to assess the effectiveness of communications strategies, platforms, and initiatives, using insights to drive continuous improvement and maximise impact across ESB.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- Relevant 3rd level qualification or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 7 years experienced in internal communications and employee engagement with exposure to digital and/or AI-enabled environments.
- Strong analytical, strategic planning, and organisational skills, with experience using data and insights to shape communications.
- Proven experience developing and delivering communications strategies, including measurement and optimisation.
- Experience supporting and advising senior leaders on communications, ideally within transformation or change environments.
- Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and influencing skills, with the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships across a complex organisation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong storytelling and the ability to translate complex topics into clear, engaging content.
Desirable
- Experience of working in a complex/matrixed organisation with multiple business units and diverse audience needs.
Location
This position will be based in Fitzwilliam 27, Dublin 2.
Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in-person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week. All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the business.

Salary
€71,000 - €84,600 per annum (depending on experience)
