Position Description

 

The primary role of Group Tax is the design and implementation of the Tax Compliance Framework such that ESB can meet its obligations under revenue rules in Ireland, UK and other jurisdictions in which it operations as well as complying with the relevant requirements in the Code of Practice for State Bodies. Group Tax meets the Audit & Risk Committee (“ARC”) annually to sign off on and give assurance to the ARC in relation to the operation of the Tax Compliance Framework and the Group Tax Strategy. ESB paid almost €1 billion in taxes to the Irish and UK authorities in 2023 which includes both taxes borne and paid by ESB as well as taxes collected and paid over by ESB under various tax heads.

 

 

Key Responsibilities  

 

  • Work with and advise stakeholders across all business units on a range of operational tax issues and ESB transactions. 
  • Preparation of corporation tax computations for UK and Irish entities to include management of group corporation tax issues, such as loss relief, UK and ROI Interest restriction calculations, management of UK capital allowances claims, and transfer pricing adjustments 
  • Interact with Irish and UK tax authorities, as part of co-operative compliance frameworks and administration 
  • Manage tax master data and SAP4 CRs, including UAT of SAP upgrades 
  • Signing off on the ROI and UK Group VAT return reviews and following up on any exceptions to ensure these are dealt with by the relevant business area 
  • Assist in implementation and monitoring of Tax Governance Framework 
  • Assist with BEPS management

 

 

Experience and Qualifications 

 

Essential

 

  • Hold the CTA from the Irish Tax Institute
  • 5 Years experience
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working across all organisational levels
  • Understanding and knowledge of UK and Irish Tax Law, legislation and regulations

 

Desirable

 

  • An accountancy qualification is desirable but not necessary
  • Data analytics knowledge, such as Power Query or Altryx very desirable
  • Working knowledge of SAP or other large ERP system

 

 

Location

 

This position will be based in Dublin

Salary 

 

€69,500 - €81,500 depending on experience.
