Governance, Risk & Compliance Manager
Position Description
ESB has initiated a Strategic Initiative programme as part of our strategic objective of being Sustainable & Socially Responsible to implement Governance, Risk & Compliance procedures (GRC) across ESB.
The programme is working closely with key stakeholders in the design of a shared solution to be supported by an IT system. We need to imagine a future where assurance is structured and integrated across ESB and systemised to avoid multitudes of emails and spreadsheets. The immediate goal is to simplify and strengthen GRC processes for our people. The Workstream Lead is responsible for leading on Business Process Improvement for key GRC processes, working with all business units in ESB.
“GRC” is a term used to describe an integrated approach to these three areas, critical to the well-functioning of the business. This programme will result in improved G, R & C processes and assure our Audit & Risk Committee and the ESB Board of Directors that ESB operates an effective system of internal control and risk management. GRC contributes to sound and efficient decision-making within the business and safeguards ESB in a complex and often fast-changing external environment.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development of governance solutions across ESB and provide governance, risk & compliance support to Business Managers. This role will initially be as a Workstream Lead on design of G,R &C processes on ESB’s GRC Strategic Initiative project, transferring to a related GRC role on project completion. This is an exciting opportunity to join the programme team at the heart of defining and driving the delivery of the GRC programme to safeguard ESB and our people and develop a key capability on our way to achieving Net Zero by 2040.
This role is available immediately and will enable the successful candidate to develop much sought-after skills. Therefore, the successful candidate will be excellently positioned for further roles in the Governance, Risk and Compliance areas and in Finance and non-Finance areas. As a leader in the implementation of changes across ESB, the successful candidate will make a real contribution to ESB’s strategy Net Zero by 2040.
Key Responsibilities

Contribute to the development of governance, risk & compliance solutions in ESB

Work with others to ensure appropriate control activities in place for key processes relating to internal control.

Work within the GRC project team and with different teams across ESB, facilitating and assisting in designing and implementing the new G,R,C processes including the design of the GRC data management structures and the associated roles & responsibilities

Engage with key stakeholders within the business incl. Financial Controllers, Governance Managers, Risk Managers, Compliance Managers, First-Line and Second Line Managers as required.

Implement the new Internal Control framework and Enterprise Risk Management and Compliance policies to deliver best in class internal control processes

Support the design, configuration, testing and implementation of a new eGRC IT tool

Manage consultancy resources as appropriate to assist with the work e.g. policy documentation and process mapping where needed as well as subject matter expertise

Strengthen our three lines of defence model leading to more robust integrated assurance
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
-
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in leading change in a Process Improvement or Governance / Risk / Compliance role

Recognised third level qualification or equivalent work experience is essential

Experience of Governance, Risk or Compliance processes

Location
This position will be based in ESB, 27 Lower Fitzwilliam, Dublin 2.

Salary
€69,500 - €81,800 per annum based on experience
