Position Description

 

The successful applicant will be appointed to the role of HV Stations Designer and will provide the required services in areas of HV station design in a timely and cost-effective manner to facilitate delivery of  capital and maintenance projects and programmes. They will also provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases of projects. The designer must be able to understand the methodology of station control systems, network operations and protection schemes, safety implications, have develop detailed knowledge of station HV equipment and knowledge of station policy.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Scoping & costing of projects in HV Substations
  • Feeding into the capital approval process and providing the required information
  • Liaising with designers depending on the size and type of project e.g. Customer Delivery, E&MP etc
  • Liaising with major developers
  • Preparation of detailed designs, including Layouts, Schematics & Wiring schedules
  • Completion of Design Risk Assessments & Preliminary H&S Plans
  • Taking part in the pre-commissioning process
  • Comply with safety legislation and act as PSDP contact on projects on behalf of the PSDP
  • Completion of as Builts schematics and layouts
  • Proficiency in one CAD/CAE System such as MicroStation or AutoCAD
  • Experience with an Electrical Design CAE system such as EPlan or AutoCAD Electrical
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite
  • Proficiency or Experience in use  of SAP based costing systems
  • Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

 

Essential 

  • A minimum of 3 years electrical experience or equivalent design work experience is essential

 

Desirable

  • A Track record in Implementing standards, policies and quality systems to ensure optimum designs
  • Displays a Knowledge of HV network assets – HV Stations
  • Understands and applies relevant approved Quality Management systems and standards.
  • Project Management skills
  • Has the knowledge and ability to effectively utilise the relevant IT systems associated with the role

 

Qualifications

  • Advanced Level 6 Electrical Craft Certificate/A suitable Level 7 or higher qualification in Electrical, Electrical Services, Electronics, Mechanical or other suitable alternative qualification with a sizeable electrical theory content

Reporting to

 

HV Stations Design Manager, Delivery Assurance, Network Customer & Project Delivery.

Salary 

 

€48,000 to €56,000 per annum
