IT & Digital Business Partner
The EMP IT & Digital team is responsible for delivering the EMP IT & Digital Strategy required by the business to support the strategic objectives of EMP and ESB, and to manage the implementation of strategy in a cost-effective and value-driven manner.
The current EMP IT & Digital landscape comprises a complex and wide variety of technical engineering and project management applications enabling EMP to meet highly complex engineering challenges and deliver ESB Networks and Generation Trading large scale capital projects.
EMP recently went through reorganisation enabling us to be strategically placed to deliver on the significant increased volume and scale of capital projects. In line with this the EMP IT & Digital team are similarly being restructured, with the opportunity now for an energetic and experienced person to fill our cross-business partner role.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Work closely with BU Senior Management Teams to define and drive out the implementation of the Digital and IT strategies
- Cross-Directorate view (i.e. interacting with other Senior IT BPs and teams)
- Consults with functional (CIO and IT Delivery) colleagues before making recommendations to BU colleagues
- Define impact of emerging technology on the strategic direction of Major Projects and contribute to all areas of Engineering & Major Projects
- Responsible for the identification and submission of IT investments into the overall BU governance process and their subsequent delivery for EMP
- Point of escalation for issues raised by the business or SMT members across EMP
- Proactive monitoring of quality and delivery of IT services for EMP
- As delegated by the Senior IT & Digital business partner, responsible for the oversight of corporately driven IT initiatives for EMP
- Support the wider IT & Digital team in cross BU initiatives
- Supporting EMP’s IT & Digital Governance business partner with GDPR related activities across EMP, such as SAR’s (Subject Access requests), DPIA’s (Data Protection Impact Assessments) and ROP (Records of processing) Reviews
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Candidates must have 7 years relevant experience
- Ability to analyse and explain IT matters in business terms
- Must be an effective team player across all levels within the organisation
- Excellent understanding of the ESB IT Delivery & CIO organisations
- Self-motivator and problem solver, with a proven delivery track record
- Excellent communications, facilitation & interpersonal skills
- Ability to influence others to move toward consensus
- Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
- Corporate-wide view and understanding of ESB business units
Qualifications
Essential
- A recognised third level qualification in an IT/Computer Science or Business discipline or equivalent work experience is essential.
- In addition the role requires five to seven years’ experience in a IT role.
Desirable
- Knowledge and experience of enterprise wide technologies and infrastructure employed across ESB
- Digital & Cyber Security Technologies
- Working knowledge of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)
Location
This position will be based in ESB Engineering & Major Projects, The Sidings Building
Grand Canal Quay, Dublin 2. However, from time to time overseas and in country travel may be required.
Reporting to
The successful candidate will report to the Engineering & Major Projects Senior IT & Digital Business Partner.

Salary
€71,000 - €84,000 Per annum
