To further enhance our capabilities and to transform ESB to a data driven and digital utility, we are looking for Graduates to join our highly motivated and skilled team of IT professionals where you will have the opportunity to deliver results in a fast-paced, innovative team environment. 

Our IT Graduate Development Programme is structured into six distinct career paths where you will be able to grow your experience, as well as develop the necessary skills to help you on your way to career success.

Infrastructure Operations 

 

As an IT Graduate within ESB's Infrastructure Operations team, you'll gain hands-on experience working with the cloud, platform, and data centre technologies that power one of Ireland's largest and most critical energy networks. Working alongside experienced engineers and technology specialists, you'll help deliver secure, resilient, and high-performing IT services that support ESB's day-to-day operations and enable its Net Zero 2040 ambitions. 

This is an exciting opportunity to build practical expertise across cloud infrastructure, platform management, service reliability, automation, and operational excellence within a large-scale enterprise environment. You'll develop a strong foundation in modern infrastructure technologies while contributing to projects that have a real impact on how ESB delivers energy for Ireland. 

As part of the team, you'll support the management, maintenance, and continuous improvement of core IT infrastructure services. You'll gain exposure to proactive monitoring, infrastructure lifecycle management, security best practices, and digital transformation initiatives, while working in a collaborative and inclusive environment that encourages innovation, learning, and professional growth. 

 

Application Operations 

 

As an IT Graduate within ESB's Application Operations team, you'll play a key role in supporting the applications that enable critical business processes across the organisation. From enterprise platforms and bespoke business systems to mobile applications, you'll gain valuable experience in ensuring applications remain reliable, secure, and high-performing for thousands of users across ESB. 

Working closely with technology teams and business stakeholders, you'll develop an understanding of how digital services support ESB's operations while building practical skills in application support, service management, performance optimization, and continuous improvement. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to innovative technology solutions that help drive operational excellence and support ESB's Net Zero 2040 strategy. 

As part of the team, you'll help enhance and optimize a diverse portfolio of Enterprise, Custom-Built, and Mobile applications. You'll gain exposure to service delivery, stakeholder engagement, incident and problem management, service improvement initiatives, and future technology planning. Along the way, you'll develop the technical and professional skills needed to build a successful career in IT while helping shape the future of digital services within ESB.

Our bespoke IT Graduate Development Programme includes: 

  • Structured Rotations: – Our graduate programme is typically structured into targetted rotations aligned with career paths and capability development where you will build your IT and business knowledge through challenging assignments, a diverse range of business activities, and the potential to work on projects. 

  • Learning & Development: – Central to our programme is your learning and development. Structured leadership development, training opportunities, innovation programmes. on-the-job learning and work-shadowing are complemented with personal development programmes and supports designed to help you grow professionally and personally. 

  • Performance Orientated: – At the start of each of your rotations, you will agree with your Line Manager the goals of the assignment and put in place the steps to help achieve them. Ongoing one-to-one conversations and management reviews will ensure that you are constantly working towards achieving your professional status and position you for a career with ESB. 

  • Supportive Working Environment: – In addition to your immediate support network of Line Manager, Middle Manager, Team Colleagues and Graduate Peers, you will also be assigned a Buddy and a Mentor. 

  • Social Networking: – Our Graduates are encouraged to get involved in all sorts of Sports and Social activities. Anything from Tag Rugby, Cricket, Soccer and GAA to language classes, team building challenges, charity work and graduate social events. Our clubs, societies and networks are a great way to build your contacts and of course make new connections.

Location 

This position will be based in ESB Head Office, F27, 2 Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin 4. 

 

Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in-person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week. All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the business.    

 

What We Look For? 

  • You should have (or be working towards) a minimum 2.1 Honours Degree in IT, Computer Sciences, Business Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Finance or an equivalent course where IT was a component. 

  • Proven ability to deliver results in a fast-paced team environment.   

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Excellent analytical skills, combined with the ability to learn quickly. 

  • Your CV should be no longer than 2 pages and clearly outline the following: Title of your Degree, and Masters (if applicable) 

  • Your results to date 

  • Your final year subjects 

  • The title of your Final Year project   

  • Any relevant work experience
