Position Description 

 

The Site Acquisition & Easements Network Designer (Engineering Officer) is responsible for preparing timely documentation and accurate maps for MV substation sites, underground cable/forestry easements, and for negotiating and processing forestry compensation claims by public & private foresters/landowners in line with current guidelines and agreements. The Network Designer (Engineering Officer) will work closely and collaboratively with colleagues in the ESB Legal (Property) team, who are responsible for processing and completing all legal formalities to secure legal title and/or legal easements as applicable to each site. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Processing MV Substation Site Acquisitions as required.
  • Processing cable easements and forestry easements
  • Working closely with ESB Legal (Property) team and providing all necessary documentation and maps to facilitate completion of legal formalities to secure enduring title and/or legal easements as appliable. 
  • Compliance with applicable Health & Safety and Environmental legislation 
  • Following ESB’s Code of Ethics “Our Code” 
  • Manage own workload as agreed with relevant Manager(s) 
  • Delivering an excellent customer service in line with ESB Networks Customer Charter 
  • Gaining and maintaining an excellent knowledge of HV / MV / LV Electrical Networks depending on specific area of work and expertise 
  • Use of ESBN’s IT systems, including G/Designer, SAP MOiP/IWM/ARM, Launchpad, MS-Excel etc 
  • Preparing scopes of work, costing templates and safety documentation 
  • Recording and updating the Distribution Network on the relevant IT systems 
  • Maintaining commercial focus by preparing least cost technically acceptable designs 
  • Liaising and negotiating with Local Authorities, landowners and other parties to obtain routes for underground cables and overhead lines in accordance with legislation and ESB policies 
  • Compliance with legislation and ESB Policy in relation to obtaining consent from landowners including issuing wayleaves 
  • Providing support in the planning and execution of construction and maintenance work programmes as required 

 

  

Experience and Qualifications

 

Essential 

  • A minimum QQI Level 6 Electrical Trade Certificate or equivalent or higher qualification.
  • Ability to translate scope and policy requirements into constructable designs 
  • Ability to implement standards and policies to ensure optimum design 
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience 

 

Desirable 

  • Knowledge of ESB IT systems  
  • Understands and applies the relevant approved Quality Management standards in ESB Networks 
  • Project Management skills 
  • Knowledge of ESB network assets; Substations, Lines, Cables, Protection and Metering

Salary

 

€48,000 to €56,000 per annum
