Position Description

 

The successful candidate will be part of the Operations Systems Support team. The position will concentrate primarily on support of the NMS/OMS which is a high availability Operational Technology (OT) system deployed by ESB Networks to assist with the safe and secure management and operation of the distribution network.

 

The successful candidate will be part of the Operations Systems Support team, focusing primarily on support of the NMS/OMS which is a high availability Operational Technology (OT) system to assist with the safe and secure management and operation of the distribution network. The candidate will also, be responsible for the development & delivery of training programs in conjunction with the NTC in Portlaoise. In addition, they will act as business liaison with groups of key business users to identify functional requirements for the business and will develop the role of system expert in OMS to help with the requirements gathering, testing and rollout of application upgrades.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Support of the NMS/OMS system including system monitoring, model management, troubleshooting and resolution of system issues and application testing.
  • Supporting business users and managing communications to these users.
  • Carrying out training needs analysis and recommending best practice solutions.
  • Develop training and deliver training solutions within agreed timeframes to Networks quality standards.
  • Improving and modifying training courses using customer feedback
  • Working with the NMS vendor and other teams ensuing a quality end-to-end service to  end users.
  • Assisting in the development of work procedures and methods.
  • Provide support  for the delivery of NMS and related projects.
  • Contribute to the development & implementation of the NMS to meet ESB Networks overall strategy for the safe management and operation of the distribution system.
  • Assisting ESB Networks attain its objectives in relation to its high level of Safety standards required.
  • Providing support to local users during major weather events.
  • Supporting NMS reporting applications for business and stakeholders needs.
  • Ensure the effective use of the NMS by users through the provision of training programmes.
  • Stay abreast of best practice developments in NMS and Advanced Distribution Management Systems.
  • Work with vendors to resolve technical issues and evaluate new systems and functionality.

 

 

Experience and Qualifications 

 

Essential 

 

  • Advanced Level 6 Electrical Craft Certificate/A suitable Level 7 or higher qualification in Electrical, Electrical Services, Electronics, Mechanical or other suitable alternative qualification with a sizeable electrical theory content
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience
  • Knowledge or experience of electricity distribution network operations (e.g. 110kV, 38kV, 20kV and 10kV system operations). 
  • Knowledge of or experience working with electricity distribution network assets 
  • Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong IT skills and technical capability.  
  • A willingness to embrace change and work with new technologies and procedures as they emerge.  
  • Proven ability to deliver on the “key responsibilities” outlined above.
  • Self-starter with ability to manage own work and support others within the NMS team.
  • Ability to work and share knowledge and competencies within a team structure.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

 

Desirable

 

  • Knowledge of Operations Technology/Systems i.e., SCADA System and OMS/NMS. 
  • Knowledge of ESB Networks Electrical Safety Rules and Network Operations policies and procedures 
  • Training delivery experience

Salary

€47,000 to €57,000 per annum
