Position Description

 

We are looking for a Offshore Cable Package Manager to join us on our journey to a Brighter Future. 

 

This role consists of leading the Offshore Cable Package supporting the project portfolio through Development Rights Competition, RtM Auction and Consent. There is also potential within the role to support the project portfolio more broadly providing strategic input into the overall delivery of the technical aspects of the projects. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

  • Lead the Offshore Cables related activities for offshore wind projects, at various stages of project maturity for both fixed and floating offshore wind farms;  

  • Provision of Technical and Commercial input into all aspects of the cables Manufacturing and Installation Contracts, including input on contract strategy, preparation of Employers Requirements, preparation of specification of technical documents including specification requirements for cable lay vessel(s) and all other ancillary subsea vehicles operations relating to subsea cable installation; 

  • Lead the design, specification and installation of the Subsea Export and Inter-array cable network for the relevant project, including assessment of cable ampacity calculations, thermodynamic modelling and dynamic ratings; 

  • Manage relationships with cables contractor’s, counterparties and other project stakeholders; 

  • Compile and review all existing information from existing marine datasets, FEED studies, geophysical/ geotechnical surveys and electrical/ thermal cable design parameters to develop an integrated delivery model which ensures the optimum solution for the cable installation and operation; 

  • Coordinating and leading contract negotiations with cable suppliers for cable supply agreement and service agreements ; 

  • Manage the cable tender evaluation, factory acceptance testing, route engineering and provide technical support during cable installation, jointing, testing and commissioning;  

  • Champion Safety across the project;  

  • Promote a strong team culture and open and transparent communication within the project team; 

  • Ensure that all cable related risks are continually assessed, reported and managed in line with the projects governance systems; 

  • Identifying and managing the interfaces between the Cable package and other packages  to ensure that the overall offshore wind development is successfully procured and delivered;  

  • Technical due diligence for wind projects to support potential acquisitions    

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience 

 

Working as part of this dynamic team, you will always have new challenges and new problems to solve – working together is key.  You will have the autonomy to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems with the support of your colleagues. 

 

Essential 

 

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in cable design and subsea cable installations; 

  • A track record in the delivery of large-scale subsea cable projects from project initiation through to commercial close with a commitment to safety, budget, quality, project program and client satisfaction;  

  • Strong commercial focus through having a clear understanding of the business case for offshore wind projects;  

  • Experienced in contract preparation and evaluation for vessels and subsea operations; 

  • Ability to clearly plan and communicate the requirements to progress specific projects or new initiatives; Proficient in HSEQ Standards for offshore cable projects, including familiarity with CDMC/ IMO/ IMCA requirements/ recommendations; 

  • Extensive experience in subsea cable laying, cable embedment, submersible vehicle operations, vessel positioning and commercial diving;  

  • Experienced in subsea surveys and engineering including interpretation of geotechnical and geophysical reports. 

 

Desirable 

 

  • Chartered engineer  

  • Due diligence experience  

  • Understanding of the key influencers of project business cases  

  • Experience with Project Management Methodology 

 

 

Qualifications 

 

Essential 

 

  • Level 8 Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience is essential  

 

 

Location 

 

Your base will be at one of our offices situated at One Dublin Airport Central or Eastgate Cork.

The successful candidate may combine remote / smart working within the jurisdiction, with attendance at base for in-person collaboration, the frequency of which is agreed with the manager and subject to ongoing review. 

 

 

Salary

 

€80,000 - €90,000

 

 

Reporting to 

 

Reporting to the Senior Specialist, Cables.
