Onshore Renewable Civil Engineer
The Onshore Renewable Civil group is a key part of Generation Engineering Delivery (GED) within Engineering and Major Projects. We provide a full range civil engineering services from feasibility stage through construction and ultimately completion of renewable infrastructure projects for ESB.
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will provide technical engineering services in the delivery of project works packages and advising on appropriate engineering solutions for various aspects of projects. You will work across a diverse range of renewable projects, with a particular focus on delivering ESB’s utility scale solar farm programme.
You will also support the mentoring and professional development of junior engineers, sharing good practice and lessons learned across the group. Depending on business needs, the role may involve a full-time assignment to a project site or working as part of a dedicated project team.
Key Responsibilities
- Fully embrace the ESB safety culture across all activities by taking ownership and demonstrating visible commitment to safety.
- Provision of strong civil engineering technical expertise and leadership for challenging technical projects
- Managing engineering works package(s) relating to the delivery of civil engineering works, site investigations, underground cable infrastructure projects, etc. as required including scoping, procuring, technical assessment, contract award and construction and contract management.
- Building and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders and manage client relationships in partnership with team leaders and project managers ensuring delivery of the client service and engage junior staff in continuous service improvement.
- Manage and co-ordinate all relevant civil, structural and environmental engineering activities required to successfully deliver projects to approved scope, budget and programme.
- Providing technical support to ESB in its preparation of various submissions in respect of consenting, auctions, licensing, leasing, and scoping of various engineering packages.
- Assist with mentoring and professional development of junior staff within the group including sharing knowledge and lessons captured on projects.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential

Minimum 5 years' relevant experience

NFQ Level 8 Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent required

Advanced specialist expertise and technical skills in civil engineering

Strong commercial and project management skills

Proven success managing major civil engineering projects for internal and external stakeholders

Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks

Self-motivated, able to manage and prioritise work independently

Full driver's license and access to a car
Desirable
- Experience in administering FIDIC Conditions of Contract
- Chartered status in a recognised professional engineering institution
Location
This position will be based in Engineering and Major Projects Office based in The Sidings, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin or Eastgate, Little Island, Cork office but travel to project locations is a key requirement of the role.

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least 2 days per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.

Salary
€59,000 - €70,000 per annum.
