Position Description

 

ESB’s CIO (Central Intelligance Office) and IT Delivery functions are responsible for the planning, design, delivery and support of all IT & Digital solutions, technologies and activities for ESB Group. The role of Portfolio Analyst resides within the CIO function reporting to the Strategic Portfolio manager. It supports and enables the development of Digital and IT investment plans, reporting on on-going investments, and helps ensure appropriate processes and governance are followed.

 

The CIO Strategic Portfolio Management team is responsible for leading the development of the 5-year and annual IT and Digital investment plans. It develops and publishes key financial and scheduling reports that inform leadership of progress on investment delivery. You will work closely with stakeholders in CIO, IT Delivery and across ESB’s business units to support and enable the successful delivery of the investment plan. Successful delivery of the investment plan is a key enabler of business strategy and of achieving Net-Zero by 2040. This is a key role in ensuring targets are achieved and appropriate governance is in place and operating effectively to safeguard investment and help deliver the best possible outcomes for ESB.

 

 

 Key Responsibilities  

 

Responsibilities of this role will include but are not limited to:

  • Continuously analyse financial and scheduling data to track progress against the overall Digital and IT Investment plan enabling informed decision making around the Strategic IT Portfolio
  • Engage with Finance to ensure accurate reporting and cross charging of the IT Investment
  • Work with IT Governance to ensure each investment is compliant with the Digital and IT investment policy
  • Generate monthly and quarterly portfolio reporting and collate information to support effective and timely decision making on Digital and IT investment and resourcing
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure that up to date forecasts and status information is maintained for all Digital and IT Investment
  • Maintaining an up-to-date view of the portfolio, managing the pipeline to ensure that new work is captured and progresses in accordance with process
  • Chair the Virtual Demand Meeting to ensure that all new work is curated appropriately
  • Support meetings and forums led by CIO Portfolio Management team
  • Manage the approvals process and setting up of WBS codes

 

 

 Experience and Qualifications

 

Essential 

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to deal with complex data with high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to deal with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a wider team and take on a range of duties as assigned.
  • Third level Business or IT Qualification or equivalent work experience is essential.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in budget management or financial reporting, IT Portfolio or Resource Management role
  • SAP PPM (Portfolio and Project Management) Experience or similar Project Portfolio Management Tool.
  • Knowledge of the Prince2 Project Management Methodology and or digital delivery methodologies
  • Competence with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Have knowledge of Microsoft Power BI / business intelligence.

 

 

Location

 

This position will be based in ESB’s Head Office at Fitzwilliam 27, Dublin 2.

Reporting To

 

This role will report to the Strategic Portfolio Manager within the CIO function.

Salary

€48,000 - €56,500 per annum depending on experience
