Procurement Lead
Position Description
ESB wish to recruit a Group Sourcing Manager / Procurement Lead to lead a team of Buyers in procuring goods, works and services and achieving best value for money for ESB. The aim of the Group Sourcing Team is to provide a responsive, professional, and commercial service to customers across the ESB Group. This team focuses on “low threshold” contracts with a value range of €5k to €300k, so the work is both high volume and fast paced.
The Group Sourcing Manager / Procurement Lead will work closely with the Head of Group Sourcing, Category Managers and the other Sourcing Managers to drive process efficiency, automation and high levels of customer service.
The successful candidate will be leading an experienced team where they will gain invaluable managerial and leadership experience, as well as being involved in a wide variety of commercial work across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee tenders & contracts in the value range of €5k to €300k, which are both high volume and fast paced.
- Lead an experienced team of Buyers across multiple locations and provide support training, and performance management to direct reports.
- End to end management of tenders and contracts, including commercial negotiations and debriefing of unsuccessful tenderers for tenders.
- Work closely with Category Managers & Category Buyers to identify areas for spend aggregation and value creation.
- Ensure all procurement processes are compliant with ESB Procurement Policy & Procedures, EU Directives, State Body Guidelines and applicable procurement law.
- Get involved in ad-hoc projects, such as Digital Transformation and Process Improvement.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- An appropriate third level qualification in Procurement / Supply Chain Management / Business Studies or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 5 years relevant work experience.
- Good experience and knowledge of SAP ( Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and Financial Management Information System (FMIS)) or similar financial management systems.
- Strong commercial acumen and influencing skills.
- Good organisational ability and communication skills.
- A high level of commitment, judgement, and interpersonal skills.
Desirable
- Previous team management experience
- Knowledge of the Utilities Directive
- Experience with eTenders
Location
This position will be based in ESB’s Head Office, Fitzwilliam 27, Dublin 2.

Reporting To
This role will report to the Group Sourcing Manager, Enterprise Services Procurement.

Salary
€57,900 - €68,170 per annum depending on experience
