Position Description

 

Distribution Markets & System Operations (DMSO) is a new function established to drive ESB Networks’ transition to a high-renewable, low-carbon energy system.  The DMSO’s purpose is to build, maintain, operate, and develop the network to meet the changing needs of society, with customers at the centre, while delivering operational excellence and ensuring the security of supply.   

 

The Operational Visibility & Mapping team (OVM), part of the Operations Solutions Delivery (OSD) pillar within the new DMSO, is seeking to recruit a Project Engineer. The Operational Visibility & Mapping team is responsible for developing the technical and delivery strategy to secure operational visibility (mapping and monitoring) of the low voltage electricity system.

 

This includes establishing a technical strategy and clear, well defined and supported delivery programme. This must account for technical and practical needs (e.g. locational, accuracy), alternative approaches (e.g. leveraging existing data sets) and ensure that deliverability requirements (contracting, specifications, processes and procedures) are developed, maintained and available as required.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Developing and managing the delivery of OVM work programmes.
  • Establish and maintain processes and procedures to deliver the Mapping and Monitoring programmes of work.
  • Work with key stakeholders to successfully deliver project works applying a high level of safety standards in all aspects of work. 
  • Develop and delivery of procedure training and briefings material.
  • Develop a strong safety, quality, environmental and performance culture within the OVM team.
  • Deliver the operational mapping & monitoring functional specification for the Operational Visibility and Mapping work stream in the DMSO. 
  • Supporting the preparation for delivery of mapping & monitoring plans, by working with the business to establish prerequisites including specifications, procurement, contracting, procedures for installation, maintenance and operational requirements, and ongoing reporting and monitoring processes.
  • Managing pilots to test emerging technical solutions & establish effective, safe working processes and procedures.
  • Build relationships with relevant key stakeholders across ESB and with relevant external agencies.
  • Use appropriate IT systems to assist in the management of day-to-day activities.

 

 

Experience and Qualifications

 

  • A 3rd level degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience is essential.
  • Minimum of 3 years' relevant work experience in the areas of Transmission & Distribution or equivalent project management including design and construction
  • Strong people skills, experience delivering within a team or cross functional initiatives, to solve problems and get the job done.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and good report witting skills
  • Good IT skills (MS office suite)
  • Strong technical background, capable of good judgements relating to technical alternatives, practical and safety impacts.
  • Knowledge of ESB Networks Safety Rules Knowledge of LV, MV, HV network operations
  • Experience of / involvement in projects where data analytics approaches were applied

Salary 


Salary starting from €48,000 per annum.
