Project Office Lead, IT
Position Description
The Project and Product Services team sits within Methods and Resources (M&R) under IT Delivery. M&R define and implement methods and standards in support of successful delivery of projects and products in Deliver with Networks/ESB (DwN/E). They also provide a build/run service on specific platforms and as well as providing resourcing to DwN/E through management of key external partnerships and contracts.
The Projects and Product Services team focuses mainly on below services.
- Management of the provision of Project Management and Product Services
- Management of relevant Framework contracts providing services and resources to DwN/E
- Management of Service Quality
- Provision and management of Project and Product Governance and Control Processes
- Demand Forecasting and tracking budgets for provision of services
- Definition and maintenance of project and product delivery methodologies and provision of associated Training
- Provision of specific support, when required, to DwN/E through training or facilitation of Lessons Learnt/Agile retrospectives and other project and product delivery management disciplines as well as facilitation of Communities of Practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with project managers to ensure strict adherence to project and Digital board governance, collate, document, store, and report key project information, and oversee the completion of closure governance processes and necessary documentation.
- Act as an advocate for Projects and Products by supporting Project Managers on queries related to the PMO Framework and Digital Operating Model and manage the monthly process for Framework contract invoicing and reconciliation.
- Provide crucial support for budget management and demand forecasting for Project and Product Management services, ensuring financial accuracy and effective resource allocation.
- Collaborate with the Projects and Product Services team to plan and implement continuous improvement initiatives for specific processes, maintaining operational excellence.
- Maintain the PMO Framework and Digital Operating Model, ensuring these frameworks remain current and are updated in line with process changes and improvements.
- Engage in weekly resource management sessions to manage day-to-day service operations, ensuring optimal resource deployment and addressing any operational challenges promptly.
- Within IT Delivery, DwN/E, provide wide-ranging support to project managers in project planning and tracking, resource forecasting, risk and issue management, and financial reporting, as well as collating project reports according to the PMO Framework methodology and Digital Operating Model; also, organise Community of Practice briefing and training sessions with the Projects and Product Services team and wider “Deliver with” function.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills and the ability to manage complex data with a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent communication abilities, ensuring project information is conveyed promptly and effectively.
- High proficiency with the full suite of MS applications in O365, including SharePoint.
- Proven teamwork skills, providing backup support and engaging in knowledge sharing across the team.
- Advanced stakeholder management capabilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including negotiation and influencing.
- Ability to collaborate with individuals at all organisational levels and at least three years’ experience in Project or Product Management, with robust cross-functional knowledge of key business functions such as IT Delivery and CIO.
Desirable
- Previous experience in budget management or financial reporting, IT Portfolio or Resource Management role
- PRINCE2 Project Management Practitioner
- Third Level IT Qualification
- Experience of Procurement processes in ESB would be an advantage
- Experience of Financial processes in ESB would be an advantage
Location
This position will be based in ESB Head Office F27, Fitzwilliam St, Dublin 2

Salary
€48,100 - €56,600 per annum (depending on experience)
