Regional Building Specialist
Position Description
Facilities Management (FM) helps ESB manage buildings and facilities safely and efficiently, supporting ESB’s brighter future strategy. FM oversees a range of hard and soft services across over 90 premises through several multiyear national contracts valued at more than €140 million, managing over 1,000 contractors. This ensures that ESB can operate in well-maintained, suitable, and safe workplace environments.
Within FM, the Technical Services team serves as the center of technical excellence, responsible for the maintenance and operation of premises by optimizing national contracts for hard services (e.g., mechanical, electrical, HVAC, technical & fabric) and soft services (e.g., cleaning, security, landscaping, and catering).
The role of Premises Support is an operational position reporting to the Technical Services Manager. It ensures that all technical services are delivered safely, timely, and efficiently, while optimizing value from service contracts across multiple locations. This key position acts as the front-line representative of FM and provides crucial stakeholder management between FM and the wider business.
Awareness and application of legislation and best practices in facilities management are essential elements of the role.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly motivated Facilities Management Team, delivering professional and efficient FM services for ESB.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee FM services across c.22 regional sites in the Midlands and Leinster regions, including monthly sustainability reporting
- Ensure optimal building operations and provide mechanical and electrical technical support as the front-line representative for FM
- Manage compliance for each location, including delivering the planned preventative maintenance program according to ESB strategy and policies, supported by compliance audits
- Utilise Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) systems to ensure effective FM contract delivery, including maintaining documentation to support invoice payments
- Ensure FM contractors adhere to ESB safety standards, supported by safety audits and reviews of contractor safety documentation
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and regularly liaise with on-site representatives, acting as an escalation point for critical incidents and premises-related issues.
- Support the management of local demands and prioritisation of works, ensuring completion of remedial tasks and assisting the wider FM team in program delivery
- Contribute to the preparation of technical scope documentation, tender specifications, evaluations, and contract awards for projects, ensuring economic and efficient solutions and compliance with ESB Procurement rules
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- A minimum of 3-5 years Engineering/Technical experience
- General awareness of building services systems (HVAC, electrical, mechanical, fire safety systems, security, etc.)
- Strong stakeholder management
- Good interpersonal skills, commercial awareness, proactive approach to problem solving and the ability to organise and motivate teams
- A proactive approach to problem solving
- Clean driving license
- A Level 7 or Level 8 degree in a Science or Engineering discipline (which would include but not exclusively; Mechanical/Electrical and Control Eng. or Trade Cert with relevant work experience
Desirable
- Knowledge of contractor safety management system
- Experience and knowledge of permit to work systems, including preparation and approval of risk assessments and method statements
- F Gas Knowledge / Qualification
- Project Management experience
- General awareness of building works, civil works, etc.
- Knowledge of Environmental Management System Standard: ISO 14001, Safety Management System Standard: ISO 45001, and Energy Management System Standard: ISO 50001

Location
This position will be based in Dublin; travel to location is essential element of the role

All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.

Salary
€48,100 - €56,600 per annum (depending on experience)
