Position Description

The Retail Market Development (RMD) team is part of the ‘DMSO Design’ pillar within DMSO (Distribution Markets & System Operation). The key role of DMSO Design is to develop integrated designs for ESB Networks’ DMSO organisation.
The Retail Market Development team is a high-performing team with key responsibilities including supporting ESB Networks’ activities in the Retail Market, facilitating effective business decision-making, influencing regulatory policy, developing and accessing market designs, delivering and supporting retail market–impacting projects, and ensuring the availability of retail market IT systems.


The Retail Market Specialist has a key role within the Retail Market Development team and provides the opportunity to support the various services delivered by the team, including those related to systems that support the Retail Electricity Market. This role facilitates the development of broad knowledge and experience across all aspects of the retail electricity market.


The electricity industry is undergoing profound change, including initiatives such as Energy Sharing, Enduring Microgeneration, and other developments driven by national and European regulatory requirements. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team at the centre of these changes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist advice and support to ESB Networks’ retail market functions in relation to retail market design, retail market systems, and core ESB Networks processes that support the retail market
  • Support the stability of retail market systems through oversight of technology partners and acceptance of solutions into steady-state support
  • Support incident and outage management, including stakeholder communications and coordination of root-cause analysis reports, and support business continuity planning as required
  • Extract and analyse data from key systems to support business decision-making and ESB Networks’ retail market-facing positions with industry stakeholders
  • Support change control management, including initiation of internal and external change requests, coordination and prioritisation of system and market changes, and representation on governance groups
  • Develop delivery options, recommend optimal solutions, and support or deliver initiatives as required, including engagement with projects impacting RMS and support with testing
  • Support regulatory complaint investigations and resolutions, drive continuous improvement of RMS complaint processes, and engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders


Experience and Qualifications 

Essential

  • Strong analytical, organisational, and planning skills
  • Strong communication, reporting, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and changing environment

 

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the Retail Electricity Market and the business processes that support it
  • Experience of SAP IS-U and SAP BW, including data extraction and analysis
  • Evidence of delivering tangible business results
  • Experience managing IT vendors and contracts
  • Knowledge or experience of project management methodologies, IT systems quality control, and testing methodologies


Location


This position will be based in Finglas, Dublin

Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in-person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful  candidate may work flexibly within the  jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week. All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the business.

Salary 

€59,000 to €70,000 per annum
