Route Designer & Surveyor

The Route Designer / Surveyor will play a key role in the delivery of engineering projects for ESB. This role involves close collaboration with design teams, ESB partners, and Contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities

Develop linear asset routes from feasibility to detail designs as part of a large team of engineering and surveying professionals.

The production of design drawings including land surveying and data processing.

Stakeholder management through consultation, engagement and negotiation with private landowners, public authorities and statutory stakeholders.

Provide technical support on material quantities, calculations and design reviews.

Participate in constructability reviews, due diligence of internal and external designs, as well as input or production of design risk assessments.

Provide technical input to project teams and collaborate with colleagues to ensure quality and compliance with ESB standards on all designs.

Co-ordinate with internal and external stakeholders to progress projects through all lifecycle stages and governance gates – from concept stage through to construction.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
-
Level 8 Civil Engineering, Geo-Spatial or construction management degrees or equivalent. Level 7 degrees may also be considered depending on experience.

Minimum of 3 years post graduate experience.

Strong awareness of health and safety legislation to support the ESB Safety Culture.

Knowledge in the use of modern topographic survey equipment and expertise in using CAD (AutoCAD or Bentley Microstation) systems to detail and communicate engineering designs.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills including stakeholder management.

Strong ability to prioritise work with excellent organisational skills and quality management.

Valid driver's license for ROI, access to a car, and flexibility to travel nationwide.
Desirable

Experience in software such ArcGIS Pro or similar

Experience in utility / linear infrastructure projects
Location
This position will be based in ESB E&MP’s Offices in Dublin or Eastgate Cork.

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least two anchor days per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.

Salary
€49,000 to €58,000 per annum
