Position Description

 

The purpose of the role is to help support and maintain a strong cybersecurity posture across ESB Networks Smart Metering Operations Centre (SMOC). It will cover a range of activities including supporting the SMOC OT Cybersecurity Lead and SMOC teams in the delivery of the cybersecurity plan for Smart Metering systems, supporting the audit and review processes and supporting the management of emerging threats that could impact the Operational Technology environment.

 

The successful candidate will assist in the development, implementation, monitoring and improvement of the cybersecurity policies, processes, procedures and controls in SMOC to maintain the integrity of the systems and to support NIS Directive (NISD) compliance and cybersecurity assurance. They will work closely with the SMOC OT Cybersecurity Lead, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) vendors, SMOC staff, the ESBN OT Cybersecurity team and the ESB IT Cybersecurity teams.

The OT Cybersecurity Professional role will provide support by helping to identify emerging threats, conducting risk assessments, and establishing how best to mitigate the associated risks.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support security related assessments, including NISD Self-Assessments, identifying opportunities for improvement in AMI systems & processes and assist in managing the corrective action plan
  • Help manage SMOC cybersecurity risks in line with SMOC risk management process including risk identification, risk assessment, risk mitigation, and risk reporting
  • Take the initiative to identify and address issues, without waiting for direction, while also knowing when to seek input from team members.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of cybersecurity policies, processes, procedures and guidelines applicable to AMI environment
  • Provide subject matter expertise in cybersecurity and help broaden knowledge of other SMOC staff
  • Provide support with ensuring operational systems, cybersecurity processes and technical solutions meet cybersecurity requirements and support compliance
  • Work with the relevant stakeholders on cybersecurity issues and incidents and on cybersecurity improvement initiatives
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of incident runbooks, Disaster Recovery plans and Business Continuity Plan
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Provide support with conducting reviews, cybersecurity risk assessments, vulnerability assessments and other various cybersecurity related activities as needed for any additions, deletions or modifications to systems, policies, procedures or processes
  • Review and stay current on relevant cybersecurity regulations, standards and trends applicable to AMI environment
  • Exhibit proactive problem-solving abilities by demonstrating the ability to anticipate potential security threats and take pre-emptive measures to mitigate risks.
  • Help conduct periodic compliance reviews against the applicable security policies and procedures to ensure compliance
  • Provide support to the SMOC OT Cybersecurity Lead

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

 

Essential

 

  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in an Operational Technology role or a cybersecurity role.
  • Knowledge of IT/OT security principles, technologies, and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.  
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment to pinpoint root causes and devise solutions with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple assignments and manage deadlines. 
  • Proven experience in one or more of the following:
    • supporting security assessments and audits to ensure compliance with regulations or standards.
    • with one or more security related regulations, frameworks or standards such as NISD, NIST, ISO 27001 etc
    • supporting the development of cybersecurity strategy, policies, processes or procedures.
    • supporting the management of cybersecurity risks.
    • conducting cybersecurity risk assessments.
    • preparing and presenting cybersecurity reporting metrics.

 

Desirable

 

  • A 3rd level qualification in ICT, computer science, information security or a related field.
  • Experience in cybersecurity concepts, policies, standards and procedures gained from working within an Operational Technology environment.
  • Experience in cybersecurity by design concepts, information security risk assessments, business impact assessments, facilitating audits and business continuity planning / disaster recovery.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity operations and incident response management.
  • Relevant professional certifications including CISSP/SSCP/ CEH/ENCE/ACE/ OSCP/CCNA/CompTIA.
  • Familiarity with threat intelligence, vulnerability assessment and identity management.
  • Knowledge of Smart Metering systems or ESB OT systems and technology. 
  • Ability to proactively research and maintain knowledge of cyber threat landscape.

 

Qualifications

 

Essential

 

  • Either 3rd Level qualification or equivalent work experience.

Salary 

 

€55,000 to €65,000 per annum
