Safety Manager Networks Project
Position Description
ESB is committed to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2040 and the successful delivery of new Networks projects by Engineering and Major Projects (EMP) will play a key part in achieving this goal. Project success will depend upon safe delivery and on maintaining high safety and health standards on these important projects.
Reporting to the SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) Manager, Engineering and Major Projects, the Networks Projects Safety Manager will lead the safety and health planning and delivery of ESB’s Networks Project portfolio. This will include ensuring that the business has a clear safety strategy, robust processes, is fully compliant with legislation and ESB requirements and has adequate competent resources to ensure the safe delivery of our Networks projects.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Development: Creating health and safety strategies, procedures, plans and specifications for projects

Support and Direction: Providing guidance, support and direction to project teams and assistance in development of Safety Improvement Plans

Contractor Assurance: Development and implementation of safety measures such as mobilisation audits, ongoing review to ensure the highest Safety & Health standards on EMP Projects.

Training and Culture: Identification of safety training requirements, ensuring training is available to staff and embedding a positive safety & health culture

Incident Management: Reporting and investigating staff and contractor incidents and accidents to determine causes and implement corrective actions

Documentation and Compliance: Developing and reviewing safety and health documentation, ensuring regulatory compliance. Ensuring work is completed in compliance with legislative requirements and ESB Policies and Procedure

Team Development & Representation: Developing NP SHE team that can provide effective SHE supports to Networks Projects and Represent EMP SHE on cross business forums
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
-
A Third level qualification in safety, environment, engineering, or equivalent experience is essential

Minimum 7+ years’ previous health and safety experience or relevant industry experience

Strong understanding of safety regulations, risk assessment, and hazard prevention

Practical experience in safety management or a related field is crucial
-
Excellent skills in communication, problem-solving, and leadership
Desirable
-
Previous experience as a health and safety manager
-
Level 8 Qualification with certifications in safety, health & environment
-
Previous 5+ years’ experience as a Safety Officer or Safety Engineer
-
A senior safety role in a utilities related work organisation operating at middle manager level safety management, experience in construction projects/utilities is highly valuable
Location
This position will be based in One Dublin Airport Central, but some flexible working arrangements may be agreed. The role will also require some travel.
ESB is committed to smart working – combining digital tools with a culture of trust and empowerment to enable flexible ways of working. The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least two anchor days per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.

The role will report to the Senior Manager, Safety Health and Environment, Engineering and Major Projects.

Salary
€83,000 - €98,000 depending on experience.
