The Transmission and Distribution Consultancy Team at ESB International specializes in providing engineering consultancy services for high voltage (HV) cable projects. Their main focus is on managing and delivering major underground cable projects, ensuring they meet quality standards, are completed on time, and stay within budget. A key aspect of their work is promoting a strong safety and quality management culture across all activities. The team is dedicated to continuously developing their technical expertise while ensuring safety and quality are integral to every project. The team specialises in:

- Stakeholder and Client Relationships: The team is dedicated to developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
- Safety Leadership: Fully embrace the ESB Safety Culture by undertaking a safety leadership role within the team and promoting the safety and quality management culture across all activities.
- Design and Delivery: Work as part of a wider team to undertake in-depth design and delivery of high voltage underground cable circuits for HV cables from 38 kV to 400 kV.
- Technical Support: Provide specialist technical support and guidance to team members and other stakeholders in all aspects of the design, construction, testing, and inspection.
- Project Management: Manage major underground cable projects and deliverables, including preparation of detailed scope of works, costs, fees, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
- Transmission Project Delivery: A minimum of five years’ experience in delivering transmission projects.
- HV Cable System Design: Strong understanding of all elements of HV cable system design, specification, tender preparation/evaluation, standards, construction, and commissioning.
- Site Surveys/Inspections: Experience in carrying out site surveys and inspections.
- Work Ethic: A strong work ethic with a clear focus on delivery to ESB E&MP’s safety, time, quality, and cost objectives.
- Commercial and Project Management: Strong commercial, project management, and design review capability.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and report writing skills.
- Training and Development: Proven track record of success in contributing to the training and development of technical professionals.
- Driving Licence: Hold a full driving license and have own car.
Desirable
- FIDIC Conditions of Contract: Experience in the use of FIDIC conditions of contract.
Qualifications
Essential
- Engineering Degree: NFQ Level 8 Engineering Degree qualification or equivalent work experience.
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer Status: Having a recognized Chartered Engineer Status.
- Project Management Qualification: Possessing a formal project management qualification.
Location
This role is based in E&MP Dublin office but travel to project locations as required is a key requirement of the role.
