We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Electrical Project Manager to join our Project Delivery team and lead the delivery of major energy projects for our growing client base across Ireland and the UK. This is a varied and impactful role, offering the chance to make a meaningful contribution to the transition to a lowcarbon future.

 

In this position, you will take full responsibility for projects from initial concept through to final handover, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. You will coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and collaborate closely with internal engineers, external designers, suppliers, Customer Solutions Managers, and clients to deliver costeffective, energyefficient, and technically robust solutions.

 

Projects span a broad range of technologies, including EV charging infrastructure, lighting upgrades, mechanical and electrical installations, heat pumps, heating and cooling systems, heat recovery, battery storage, solar PV, building management systems, and water and pumping systems. Your leadership will be essential in ensuring each project achieves optimal technical and commercial outcomes aligned with client objectives and sustainability targets.

 

Success in this role requires a strong safety-first mindset, deep technical expertise, and proven project management experience within the energy or building services sectors.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Champion and uphold ESB’s strong safety culture across all project activities, including conducting safety, environmental, and quality audits, and compiling snag lists to ensure project completion standards are met.
  • Provide input during the development phase of energy efficiency projects to ensure smooth transition into delivery.
  • Take full ownership of the delivery phase upon contract award, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Coordinate and consolidate reports and updates from contractors and site teams to enhance customer experience and maximise return on investment.
  • Plan and manage all aspects of project delivery from contract signature through to final handover, in close cooperation with clients and contractors.
  • Oversee and coordinate contractors delivering small to large-scale projects across multiple client sites.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure alignment with agreed timelines, budgets, and performance milestones.
  • Review and report on the quality of work delivered by external contractors, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
  • Ensure all project documentation is accurately recorded and handed over to the client in a timely and professional manner.

 

Experience and Qualifications 

Essential

  • A third‑level qualification in an engineering discipline with relevant project delivery experience, or a recognised electrical trade qualification supported by a formal project management qualification and relevant project management experience.
  • At least 7-10 years' experience in project implementation.
  • An ability to manage and deliver energy services to public and private sector customers.
  • Understanding & knowledge of energy management, energy efficiency and distributed generation technologies and the implementation of same.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
  • Project Management & Delivery including contractor management. 

Desirable

  • Experience or Knowledge of facility and/or Asset management, Operation and Maintenance.
  • PMP / Prince 2 Qualification.
  • Working knowledge of some of the industry standard forms of contract e.g FIDIC, NEC Etc.
  • ISO 50001 implementation and SI 426 Auditing experience.
  • Knowledge of project support opportunities e.g. EXCEED, SSRH, Climate Action Fund Etc.

This position will be based in Swift Square, Santry, Dublin 9

 

Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in-person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week. All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the business.

Salary

€71,900 - €84,600 per annum (depending on experience)
