Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: Lead the delivery of ESB’s low-carbon future strategy, embedding social and environmental sustainability across in all our activities. Ensure alignment with ESB’s strategic objectives at every level - internally and externally - while overseeing large-scale initiatives that drive measurable impact.

Engineering Excellence across ESB: Lead the development and implementation of best-in-class engineering standards, practices, and innovation across all engineering functions in ESB. Provide strategic guidance on complex engineering challenges and promote cross-functional collaboration.

People Leadership: Drive a culture of continuous growth and learning, guiding and mentoring teams to achieve their full potential. Mentor engineering talent to build deep technical capability aligned with ESB’s ambition to be a net zero company by 2040.

Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, regulators, and industry partners.

Innovation and Improvement: Drive innovation and continuous improvement across all areas of the business, leveraging new technologies and best practices to enhance ESB's operations.
Skills, knowledge and key personal requirements:

Strong strategic and inclusive leadership and team collaboration skills

A proven track record of leading transformation and managing complex engineering projects to achieve strategic goals

Systems thinking enhanced by future technology, actionable policies and plans

Extensive experience of influencing at senior levels both internally and externally
-
Learning-oriented with strong interpersonal, engagement, and the personal credibility to deliver the highest standards of people performance
Qualifications & Experience:
-
A degree in Engineering (Level 8 NFQ or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Energy Engineering.
-
10+ years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a senior or strategic leadership role involving the delivery of complex, multidisciplinary projects.
-
Postgraduate qualifications in Engineering, Business, Sustainability, or Leadership are desirable.
ESB Work Environment:
We offer a flexible working environment for our senior managers to accommodate personal and professional needs. This approach ensures a healthy work-life balance while maintaining high productivity and leadership standards. The successful candidate may combine remote / smart working within the jurisdiction, with attendance at base for in-person collaboration, the frequency of which is agreed with the manager and subject to ongoing review.
Work base will be defined according to the role.
